Can anyone help me out by telling me how to stop pop ups . I'm using Firefox and I being plagued by the bleeding things and I can't find any way to stop them. I'm especially getting A Visitors Survey and a chance to win an iPhone. Anyone got any ideas,Thanks

Just search for free pop up blocker software on google and there's loads of stuff out there, or you can pay for a norton version in the shops if you don't trust free downloads

vinney - I have never had problems with pop ups, I use Chrome. I can only assume maybe my anti virus automatically blocks any, so maybe your pop up blocker just needs to be switched on somewhere.

I know you can also get an AdBlock. I have never used one but believe there are many alternative but similar versions, maybe worth a search and review.

    ps.

After typing the above, I have just found... go to Control Panel (start button) - Click Security - Click Internet Options - A box with tabs will come up, Click Privacy - Hopefully you should see a check box to turn on pop-up blocker - Save

    Hi vinney,
Most sites you go on will track what you're doing and try to give adverts relavent to your searches, there are programmes that will block sites from tracking you and the link below is the one that I use.
    it's worth a try.

vinney - if you know your pop ups are blocked on firefox and you have cleared your cookies and yet the problem still persists, although this should be covered under a decent anti virus check, you may need to run a anti spyware programme. Be careful though mate and seek advice, because you don't want to download a dodgy one that is going to make the problem worse. Have you suddenly been inundated with pop ups and is your computer running slowly?

I took your advise and googled for an ad blocker and downloaded Ad Block Plus as an addon to Firefox and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks everyone
