At the moment I am staying in Bucharest, on Sunday Steaua played Galati in the Romanian Super Cup.
The sad news is that Steaua no longer have a home Stadium, the owners of the Stadium have decided to put the rent up to 60,000 Euro per Month, in response the Club owner told them where to go.
Exactly the same thing is about to happen to another Bucharest club Dinamo, both clubs have now decided to play their home games at the newly built National Stadium.
I went to the old Steaua ground to have my photo taken wearing my Swans shirt but there are no signs at the stadium now, in the past I enjoyed many huge games at Steaua in the Champions League and the old Uefa Cup.
Lets hope this sort of thing will never happen in the home of football.

It is sad to see, I used to go to dynamo Kyiv's Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium, it's a small crappy ground , but I loved going there watching them play, they play all their champions league games at the Olympic stadium, seen man utd, arsenal, Liverpool , newcastle , real Madrid , barca and rapid Vienna there , highlight for me was seeing Barry town there twice ;)

€60,000 sounds pretty cheap to rent a stadium for a month. Most football clubs money goes on players salaries, and €60,000 is a drop in the ocean compared to their wage bill every month. Ditch a couple of players and they will easily be able to afford the rent. Or build their own stadium. The stadium owner also needs to get money back from his investment.

The Stadium owner is the Romanian Army, as Steaua used to be the Army team many years ago, the stadium actually only has 1 covered stand the rest are open air terraces, the only stand was built and paid for by the club.
As for your comment on players wages they earn far less in Romania than some players in League 2 in this country.

http://www.stadiumguide.com/ghencea.htm this link shows the stadium and all the details.

Sad to see that, I remember how friendly the players all seemed when they came over for a friendly 10 years ago.
