How can a team go from hero to zero in just a couple of days ..... that was painful to watch .... words fail me BC so I will let the others give you a match report
This will be fairly short and not sweet. Argyle were terrible. Given Mr Sheridan's statement of a couple of days ago regarding fortress Home Park that proved to be a joke. The defence looked as if they had just met. Worst of all was Nelson who for me was at fault for both of their goals. Ball played over him and he just stood and watched both times. The Fleetwood goals were clones of each other. They did it once and in 2 minutes repeated the trick. The only out player for me who can claim any credit whatsoever was Morgan. The rest were either just about ok or awful. Blackman was ok and Berry was ok. The midfield were absent, Reid was poor and it didn't change much when Sheridan did 3 changes after 10 minutes of the second half. Fleetwood did nothing much after scoring 2. They didn't have to because we didn't look like scoring ever. Had Fleetwood put the foot to the pedal then god alone knows what the score might have been. Verdict from me is that this was worse than the start of last season and that was bad enough. Unless they do something about it then sorry folks but this season is going to be another dire struggle and one we might end up losing this time. Can I re-enter my finishing prediction Gat? Sadly I have another 22 Saturday experiences to go.
That's okay sensible.....I just have away with words......just been punishing myself by reading through ATD....so I thought I would cheer myself up by reminding you that your punishment isn't always on a Saturday.
Just food for thought ..... the 2002/2003 season when we gained promotion into the Championship we only achieved 1 point out of the first 5 games .... Mind you I have been reciting this fact for the last 5 seasons lol
Your a year too early Gat 2002/3 was the year between our two promotion years.....but what you say is just no more than history now of course.
There's clearly a lot of frustration in the crowd who suffered best part of 10 years of this I suppose, is it? Or does it just seem that long? Some boos at half time and again at the end, which is a bad sign at the first home game. Maybe it's Greenitis but I didn't see it as that bad. There was a 90 second freakshow which sealed the game after Argyle had dominated the first 10 minutes. Up until the first went in, it looked hopeful but I guess we've been there before. The second showed an alarming lack of organisation. Argyle tried to come back after the first went in and won a corner, which broke to Fleetwood towards the corner flag. Sometimes you are sitting just in the right place to see what happened. As the Fleetwood left back moved the ball forward, all you could see were the backs of Argyle shirts running back into position. Nobody was facing the ball, nobody closed down, they all just ran for home. Fleetwood played the ball into the space they surrendered and bang it was 0-2. What also was noticeable was that Fleetwood sat deeper than Argyle and had very mobile strikers linking play. Consequently, they broke very quickly & directly from one end to the other. The same can't be said of Argyle. Boco & Alessandra were anonymous and Argyle looked better over the last 25 with Gurrieri and Young on in their places although maybe that was just fresh legs. Reid was isolated up and pretty static upfront. I shall in future call Morgan Magnetic Marvin in future, as once you give him the ball, he can keep it. I'm unclear what kind of role would suit him but I don't think left wing is it and maybe playing closer to Reid would have given both better chances. Condsidering Fleetwood's speed on the break, I thought the back 4 did not brilliantly but OK generally. Despite what Sensible says, I though Berry was outstanding against a nippy winger. The 2 goals conceded were a team failure not an individual one, especially the second. Cole couldn't be blamed for either graet finishes but the rest of the time frightened the life out of me, never mind the back 4. Doesn't know when to stay and when to go and panics when he has to kick. My conclusion is that there's something wrong with the way we are set up and I suspect we need to get a proper holding midfield set up. Time after time we were over-run on the break. It's all very well trying to play attacking football but not when you lose 0-2 to two quick breakaways.
Correction, Alessandro stayed on, Blizzard went off. I stand by my comments though.... Balckman looked useful as a left winger in the last 20 BTW...
All about opinion I suppose notdistant. This team need some direction BC. To be honest they didn't look like they had any for a lot of the game. Notdistant is right in one thing and it stood out like a sore thumb. Mobility. Fleetwood played with a loan striker. He never stood still and frequently the backs lost him or let him go. He was first to the ball most of the time and the only team that looked like scoring after 0 - 2 was Fleetwood. This performance was woeful and although again notdistant is right in that it improved slightly it was only that after the subs. I suspect Fleetwood are going to be up there at the end of the season but we certainly aren't.
