One has to wonder what the story would be if Sammy was still here. I wonder if he has a house or rented, he did seem well settled in at BCFC, notice BHAHA have won 1 drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 7 and Sammy has not really featured in the plans! Would we have him back on loan?
I said this before and i will say it again Baldock is not prem or championship material, good league one player. We came out of it very well, bit like Maynard not prem, lower end championship player, excellent league 1 player. He made his bed go lay in it,his decision not ours.
Don't want him back. He wanted to leave for more money, he's got it. Good luck to him and a thanks to Brighton for the 2 mil.
It was Sam's choice and most of us would have done the same Most of us knew he wasn't Championship material, although from what I've heard, Hyppia had or has been playing him as a winger....
I would have him back even if we had to pay for him. Best player last year because we played him in the right position. He's better in some areas than agard Who could turn down a championship club We had to sell as it was too much of a risk keeping him in case we didn't go up.
'Hyppia had or has been playing him as a winger....' Cotterill played him wide as well at times but not as a winger. A fit Baldock is far better than what we've seen of Agard so far. If Cotterill goes for Baldock or,for that matter, any other player - I'm happy.
Sam will always be welcomed back to the Gate whether for us or an opposing side. The club need to attract the right players in January to ensure promotion, lets hope the lessons of the **** up when we were top of the Championship and bought the donkey Adebola have been learnt! We're very well placed and we should collect a fair amount of league points over the next 10 days or so. I also expect us to progress in the FA Cup and JPT. Together and upwards. It's been a long time since I've been this optimistic. Up The City
Can't believe some are still saying he's not championship quality, he played in one season with us, which was injury ridden and half was with SoD in charge. Think he still scored 12-13 goals in that season, in the first part of league one he was not with it and then second part he was on fire. Seems he didn't like playing SoD's way to me. Plus West Ham fans was happy enough with him in the Championship even though he got injured and missed a big chunk of it, they didn't want him to go if you remember. Like Redprint said if we had the chance of having him back I wouldn't be disappointed.
He's not championship "quality" a decent striker at that level but he wouldn't be your star man. I wouldn't want him back now tbh and the excuse "anybody else would have done the same" regarding his move is bulls**t. The money Brighton were offering wasn't a lot more than what we at the time were paying him. It looked likely we were going up and still does, looks likely Brighton will be in a dogfight all season. Wade Elliott summed it up well when signing in the summer by saying any young player should want to stay here as the club is going places. Which it is. Baldock left to get a LITTLE bit extra. He's moved on and so should we.
Remember a few Brighton fans getting a bit too big for their boots the day Baldock was signed, so I'm not overly bothered him and Baldock are struggling.. however it wouldn't be the worst idea to try bring him back on loan
Perhaps the mods can amend the thread title to "Well paid Sammy". Resigning him would not be a good move. We have moved on!
Well said that man, moved on and he has,we are in a better place than when he was here. City on the rise, championship is the next stop
I think we have moved on. He handled the move away quite well - I for one hope it can still work out for him
I don't wish him any ill, but I wouldn't want him to return. Having said tha, if Cotts wants him then I would support him. Cotts knows his stuff.
Sailing on a rudderless ship now and I wonder if he is second guessing his decision. Ah well the 2+million was well received thank you.
Has a new boss to impress now and not much in the tank to back it up- Sometimes moves don't work out and you cant fault him for wanting to go. he had 26 goals in the bag last year which was a good enough CV for a championship club. I always felt he could have had a lot more. One on one with the keeper was not his strength where as a top striker, it is a requirement. We are in need of a striker to back up our existing ones. usually with transfers, all of the money doesn't come up front so I expect we are owed some. It would be an easy way for Brighton to pay up and we could land a bargain in the process.
