Having watched a 'sky sports exclusive' on racism just now it's hard not to sympathise with Millwall and how they are such easy targets for touch paper journalism. In this hard hitting documentary we were told that sky sports journalist had travelled to games at all levels for 4 months and witnessed racist behaviour at an incredible two games. That's two. One was Millwall the other burnley? They said they witnessed 56 examples of racist chanting. By er 5 blokes. So if we break it down that's in a crowd of 15k thats about 000.5% of the crowd. And if indeed sky had travelled to games of all levels for 4 months then it is probably something like 00000.5% of the population. They then kept returning to the den, to stand in the same block and to see if the same bloke (s) were still pissed/racist. If they really wanted to see racism, why didn't they go to white hart lane and a Chelsea v spurs match? Or at Everton or Liverpool or man city I have heard some shocking things at these grounds, yet they ravaged Millwall? Are SSN really saying that everywhere else is fine and dandy or that the premier league clubs might not let us do exclusives if they pissed them off. I heard an mp calling for a life ban which is probably correct for this sort of abuse particularly when it was aimed at Marlon King and Diouf two darlings of moral value and behaviour.
Gotta agree with that. I've no time for racists, but those sort of percentages could probably be found at any club in the country , just depending on where you stand in the ground. Let's face it, every club has got a few idiots, and really, if they could only find five blokes at the New Den, it's hardly the beginning of a new third reich. You could probably find more at MacDonalds in Bexleyheath on a friday afternoon. Cheap reporting.
