At the end of last season Maxi was our hero with a run of goalscoring none of us thought he was capable of. And yet I have hardly seen a thread that mentions him in our line up.Do you think he has a future with us other than as a sub? I have to say I thought he was leaving to go back to his family in Argentina.Has that all blown over? However,I will be pleased if he is now staying as I think he can make a difference even if it is only off the bench. He is professional and always gives his best. what are your thoughts?
He's a great squad member, and with the money he's apparently on I'm sure he'll find a way of staying positive even if he doesn't get too much game time...
He'll probably be in a Benayoun role, i.e coming off the bench with 15/20 minutes to go, especially with Downing taking the left side and rarely being injured. He'll be good for nicking the odd goal towards the end of a match I expect, but I don't expect him to play a huge part, unless Kenny rotates. May be played down the right side a bit though.
Still think he has a part to play. Can be an impact player. Come on in the last 30 minutes and maybe get a winning goal!
Another player who seemed to benefit from playing alongside Suarez (like Kuyt). I really do think Kenny will be able to utilise him over the course of a long hard season so if he's happy to stay and try and fight for a place then all the better for us.
Maxi is a part of the squad startegy that Kenny is trying to build. During the course of the season he will also be employed as a strater when Kenny and Steve Clarke believe that his style of play will be to the benefit of the team. I really believe that he will be more than an impact player. We really have to change our mindset particularly about our midfield. It's no longer starters and spares.
Maxi is a good player and I haven't ignored him. His recently been designated the number 11 shirt and I feel this may signal him playing a more key role to the squad if anything. I mean who changes their number from 17 to 11 with no one taking the previous shirt and then playing a lesser role the in squad? I'm sure KK has him part of him plans I was very happy to see Maxi fit and firing. I'll never forget the moment he done a little dribble then took a long-range shot against Fulham. As soon as he hit it I had a good feeling. His not gone anywhere yet and I hope he gets a good run of games this season too. I also believe KK and Steve Clarke don't have one formation, they'll look at the oppositon, taking into account injuries, suspensions etc. If KK feels Maxi's attributes are whats needed then expect him to play. Maxi can benefit the team in more ways than one. At the end of last season him, Suarez and Kuyt looked pretty comfortable on the front line. If only Joe Cole could have done the same
Loving the new words, best is "startegy" as this clearly means the strategy used to pick who will be starting.
