"Amidst all the euphoria at the Etihad yesterday my personal highlight had to be when the coverage switched to the Stadium of Light to see the disbelieving United players. In particular the sight of little Michael Owen who had stripped off his tracksuit and was stood there in his full kit like a seven year-old on Xmas day, ready to join in celebrating a title he had absolutely nothing to do with.

"You're a pathetic, self-publicising little mercenary Michael and the look on your face yesterday when news came through of City's triumph made my season."

News from Premier League losers, Manchester United, who have decided to discard the fading talents of former Magpie, Michael Owen.

Not surprising, given that Owen made just one Premier League appearance in the 2011/12 season and that was from the bench at Stoke way back in September.

However, Michael and his team will no doubt be preparing a new PR brochure highlighting his fabulous strike rate for last season which works out at three goals every four games - having scored three times in four games....

But it will probably omit that his strikes came against lower league opposition - Leeds United(2) and Aldershot - both in the Carling Cup.

 

He's got a hard life hasn't he............

He's got his stables to keep happy. I wont bet on any of his horses.

 

Don't think he'll ever go short (no pun intended) he's probably still got his first penny.
