Yesterday's player ratings from the Preston 606 board:

Ashbee- WTF! do me a favour! the guy is a cross between parkin and kevin nicholls! ie overweight and useless, the guy was patently out on his feet after 30 mins and should have been subbed, as mobile as a static caravan! 4/10

Only one fan questioned this rating, he said it was too high and awarded him 3/10.

I hope he gets the welcome he deserves on Saturday, then goes on to play really badly. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Think our lads will have too much pace for most players never mind Ash. Could we ever hope to have a greater leader.

I've no sympathy, he's getting paid more money than he's now worth and good luck to him on that. Our midfield is better without him so everything is good for all parties. His mate Jimmy is having a nice start at Ipswich so everyone's happy!

We've been so much better since Bullard and Ash left.

Unfortunately his time has come and I'm kind of glad, in a weird way, that he is playing against us and not for us next week.

Evans and Cairney, or whoever is in centre mid should run rings around him.

How did they rate Wayne Brown? He looked like a donkey for the goal and was only saved from a sending off by the fact that the Bristol City player scored

as for jimmy, i think its obvious what was said about him not wanting to be here was true, most games he played for us, he barely clapped the fans at the end, and barely celebrated when he scored...just seen ipswichs second goal, to which he had no involvement, yet he went sprinting over to celebrate like a kid..clearly enjoying his football again..

Brownie has dropped Wayne Brown to the bench, which is probably why they got tonked 4-0.

I hope Bullard keeps it up and then we might recoup some more money on him. £300,000 pays for Chester. £500,000 might pay for Evans perhaps?

Sorry, you're right, he came on as a sub early in the second half, having checked again he did get a rating, it's even worse than Ash's:

brown- wins his headers...........thats it! 3rd goal all his fault no pace and should never darken our door again! ( and i dont mean darken as a BNP reference!) 2/10 for headers only.

reading the ratings from the preston fans it sounds like they should all be on antidepressants. they're down before the team is.

Ellington must have been really exceptional to get his 7/10.

Big mistake for Brown & Horton to go there. They've got no chance.
Big mistake for Ash to go there too. Should have stuck it out at City till season end, got his head down, worked hard and see what happens. He'd have either got his extra year and testamonial here or a contract offer somewhere else still.
    Preston are crap and doomed.

I think Phil went there for two reasons:
    1. Because he was absolutely desperate to get back in the game in England or Scotland. He is the king of self publicity and once your face is out of the media for a long time, it becomes harder to persuade a chairman to gamble on you.
    2. He will soon trot out lines like 'oh well we tried but it isnt my team and Darren Ferguson left us in this mess. Phil will think he has bought himself some time in the public eye before they realise their mistake. He will expect a season to bring them back up therefore not a bad job to take in his eyes.

I noticed the other day, after the loss to Barnsley he said 'this is not what I expect from my players, when they cross the white line, they need to step up to the plate'.

It looks like he's still working from the same book of clichés.

"not what I expect from a Phil Brown Team" quote by Phil Brown talking in the third sense.
