Would we get a fee for him, I assumed we just wanted him off the payroll? I think Ward is done and dusted and the decision is down to him - If a small fee is involved with Paynter it could help Neil if he really is looking at Halford

I would be shocked if we got a fee for Paynter, he's not worth anything. A swap deal could be the best way of getting rid of him, but how long has he got on his contract and if its a few seasons, then he has every right to sit tight and get paid for doing nowt (no change there then!)

Edit: Paynter is on £7,000 per week and his contract ends in June 2013.

Pompey will be looking for money for Ward and to take Billy for nowt, on a low wage, while we pick up the difference in wages.

Don't see how this has any influence on Ward - he is making the decision based on his own circumstances, it is not Pompey calling the shots

We got him on a free so I would be glad to see him leave for free and save his £364,000 wages. Maybe his goals at the end of last season has made him worth a minimal fee? Wonder if he can persuade Connolly and AOB to go with him and replace Ward and Pearce ;)

Almost as important as the players we get in you just know that getting the dead wood out asap will also affect the way we deal in the market...

I must admit I would get out of bed for £364,000 a year, I'm just as capable of doing nowt as Paynter and I'm thinner....
