Pompey will be at home in the 2nd round of the Paint Pot Trophy after we drew Wycombe in the draw earlier today.

Let us hope we progress further <ok>

There are no easy games in football- but this will be one of the easier matches.

I'm hoping for a dominant display from Pompey, much like the one England showed last night, against Moldova ;)

I predict a comfortable, 3-0 home win. I'm a big fan of the cups- and I'd love a good run to the later stages- and perhaps get our hands on some silverware at Wembley! ..

here's the full draw- if anyone is interested!

    Northern Section

    Shrewsbury Town v Crewe Alexandra
    Rochdale v Bury
    Morecambe v Preston North End
    Walsall v Port Vale
    Doncaster Rovers v Chesterfield
    York City v Coventry City
    Notts County v Sheffield United
    Hartlepool United v Bradford City

    Southern Section

    Portsmouth v Wycombe Wanderers
    Cheltenham Town v Oxford United
    Torquay United v Yeovil Town
    Plymouth Argyle v Aldershot Town
    Northampton Town v Colchester United
    Leyton Orient v Barnet
    Brentford v Crawley Town
Southend United v Dagenham and Redbridge

Ties to be played week commencing 8th October 2012.

A link to Wycombe's build up thread. Some good discussion here!

Rocky Blue Army: I've always liked Wycombe- it's just a shame they seem to always be promoted/relgated between League's 1/2. Must be an exciting and interesting team to support, mind!

Good luck for the future, and I hope you're promoted soon! <ok>

cheers pompey, theres no chance of promotion this season,we have just got rid of our last owner and the fans are back in charge of our club again, we have no money but have stayed afloat so we take whatever comes our way at the moment,at least we still have a club and thats a bonus.i don't like the tinpot cup but pompey away is a nice draw for us and i wouldn't mind going if the rest of my lot are up for it.<cheers>

We find ourselves now in a similar position as you seem to have been in previously. Unlucky with owners- followed by some dark seasons in lower divisions. I think you've done well though recently, in the league.

Nice to see your fans have come in and saved your club- the Pompey Supporters trust could use Wycombe as a model of a fan run club.

Good luck for the game- I'm sure all the Wycombe fans will be made welcome in Portsmouth!

May the best team win! <ok>

A realistic chance of a win and a place in the Southern Quarter finals. We would then be 4 games [regional finals are 2 legs] from WEMBERLEEEEEEEY

Jealousy isn't necessarily the only reason why someone might not like seeing Southampton in the Premiership, he could have a specific reason you know and to be honest, it's a bit arrogant to make that assumption.

Except I can't think of a single reason why a Wycombe fan would hate us. Not a sensible one, anyway.

Possibly just typing what he/she thought we wanted to hear.

If Pompey/Saints positions were reversed, he/she would have probably posted on 'this thread on the Saints board' by saying "Cheers guys hope Saints get back to the prem soon as I cant stand seeing Portsmouth in the prem"

I wouldn't read anything more than that into it <ok>

Well, maybe he has a specific reason so wait to see what he says, there could be any number of reasons.

Looking at our side of the draw, there does not seem to be many "danger teams", as most are in League 2.

Fingers crossed we win v Wycombe, take it one game at a time, and end up in the final! <ok>

I'd say the winners of the Brentford v Crawlwy tie would be the ones to avoid

They have a nice set up at Wycombe. Bars for the fans, a great stadium, I went to a friendly there years ago, just after they joined the league I think it was.
