Pompey are without skipper Marlon Pack with an ankle injury, thanks to Wigan's striker Charlie Wyke's shocking challenge from behind on Saturday, which deservedly earned him a red card. Alex Robertson moves to central midfield, to make way for young Chelsea attacking midfielder Tino Anjorin making his full debut.

Terrific match !! 2-1 home win for Pompey, which keeps them top of the table. In the first half, Wigan scored in the 22nd minute completely against the run of play, when Luke Leahy's corner was met by Josh Scowen. Josh Scowen was booked for scything down Joe Morrell two minutes before he scored, and Luke Leahy booked in the 40th minute for fouling Colby Bishop. In the second half, we equalised in the 58th minute, when a throw in by Jack Sparkes found Abu Kamara who passed to Colby Bishop who scored. In the 90 + 8th minute, Pompey scored the winner they deserved with a corner from Jack Sparkes headed home by centre half Connor Shaughnessy for his first Pompey goal. Pompey used 3 subs, being Christian Saydee for Tino Anjorin, Gavin Whyte for Paddy Lane, and Sean Raggett for Alex Robertson. 4 more yellow cards in the second half, Wigan's Brandon Hanlan for a foul on Colby Bishop, Ryan Tafazolli for time wasting, and Pompey's Alex Robertson and Regan Poole both for fouls.

Another impressive comeback! However, the team should remember that a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes followed by a boring 70 minutes grinding out a clean sheet is also very acceptable from time to time and easier on the nerves of us older supporters! A special mention of Bishop. His goal scoring potential has been apparent from day one but his 'back to the goal' distribution has also been outstanding in recent matches.
