This is such a difficult one to call. County were all over Pompey in the recent league match at Meadow Lane, but Pompey have hit some great form since then. I think Pompey have to make the home advantage pay, and that County will be happy to take a draw and a replay on home soil.

    Devo reckons:

    Pompey 2-1 Notts County

Pompey 1-1 Notts County, followed by a feisty replay match at County.

I can never understand why replays exist- it makes the first game seem like dead wood, most of the time ..

Hopefully Pompey can make it through- and face Saints in the next round.

Who else thinks we need to dish out another 4-1, it's been two years since we last put them in their place ..<laugh>

We'll have to get through the 2nd round first, but It would be great to draw Saints at home in Round 3. Get ready with those Bubble Busses!

With Scott Allan now with us, I reckon/hope for a 2-0 win.

Saw Akos Buzsaky's 35 yard shot against the Blades on the box tonight, that hit the bar - what an absolute cracker !!

Oh dear PL you really do think you are the new sb3.
He my friend is a one off, you should try and concentrate on your education.
Because trying to be funny and clever on here is not working, quite the opposite.
Pompey have a couple if rounds to get through before Premier League teams enter the draw. Surely you have been a Pompey fan that long that you should remember that. Or is that not the case ?

Give him a break Poss. It is a long time since we have played in round one.

Round eight, we know a bit better.

Well, from the story in the News today it looks like we're out of the cup already. Perfect antidote to the job rejection from Cockshire County Council I just received.....

A 19 year old can only remember the times when Portsmouth were up in the Prem, or just below in the Championship, and one or two of the seasons we spent in League One.

Until now of course, we could be in League One for a couple of seasons yet!

As for the first line- it's just a bit of banter mate. Don't take everything too seriously, it's only for a laugh! It's the magic of the cup- playing teams in higher leagues, knocking 'em out- all the Leagues One/Two teams want to do that, so it's a perfectly normal wish!

In all honesty, I'd love us to get through and play Chelsea at home- or Manchester United away! Justto see us playing there again would be fantastic- although it obvoously would be a one-off! <ok>

Who else was at Old Trafford the year we won thev cup, beating Man. Utd 1-0 on the way, after receiving a battering for the entire match ?

How Man U failed to score that day was incredible. I was lucky enough to get corporate seats, thanks to the fact our Head Office at the time was based up in Manchester. The sight of Sir Alex whinging every time a Pompey player had the audacity to tackle one of his arrogant overpaid players was very entertaining ! I was surrounded by Man U fans, so had to sit on my hands when Sulley Muntari's penalty went in, rather than risk my wellbeing by standing up and cheering.

The looks of anger/grief/bewilderment on the Man U fans faces at the final whistle was classic.

Good to be a Pompey fan that day <ok>

You can't deny that it was an amazing game. Was it Michael Carrick who missed from 3 centimetres?

I don't imagine many Pompey fans could believe their luck when Muntari was facing a penalty against Rio Ferdinand to win the game. And they could probably believe it even less when they were the only Premier League team in the last four!

I remember watching that game and it was a little one sided, but you can't win things if you don't get a little piece of luck on the way.
As the saying goes, your name was on the cup that year.

The good news is that Scott Allan has been given permission to play todays match. Dicko and Anderson have not though so they will be in the stands.

As he's been allowed to get "cup-tied" it does sound as though Scotty is going to be with us for a lot longer than the 1 month loan.

Not that we're likely to get to the next round <laugh>

As long as todays match is an improvement on the away match in september, I'm happy. Apart from Man u away when we lost 5-0 that was my worst away day. Not even 8 pints and several shots of sambuca cheered me up. Although my mate throwing up in my garden when I got home was amusing.

It's only the first half - too soon to give up.

Then again cup runs can be magical when you're drawn against a top Premier Legaue side! <magic><magic><magic>

Hopefully we will get a big team in round three- if we can get there!
