We seem to have a white pawn on our bench. Does he turn into a Queen if he reaches the opponent's goal line?
Exactly where I had hoped Pompey would be cometh the end of the season. Go for it lads. I, for one, would not be in the least bit nervous about the play-offs as I feel many on here would have been content with an upper mid-table finish. Not me, not Kenny Jackett, nor Eisner. I would imagine one or two additions in the January window to strengthen the club's chances of a play-off finish, and maybe a trip to Wembley.
Good thread 3rd eye Nice win today against probably the dirtiest team to grace Fratton Park all season. They deserve to be in the relegation zone. Their manager Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank was totally bereft of ideas. As MAJR has said, Oli Hawkins first goal in the 45th minute, was a magnificent header, and it totally knocked the stuffing out of the Cobblers. They scored first; against the run of play; but we fought back with a vengeance and went 2-1 up on the cusp of half time. The bad news is that midfielder Danny Rose has a fractured leg following a nasty kick from John-Joe O'Toole in a drop-ball situation - Rose kicked the ball, but O'Toole kicked Rose. Strangely, whilst we were awarded a free kick, the useless referee failed to book their player . Moments earlier the same Cobblers player had upended Nathan Thompson, who then required treatment. Gareth Evans also went off injured Second half, we were all over them like a rash, and apart from Oli Hawkins' second headed goal from a cross by Dion Donohue in the 48th minute, Ben Close hit the crossbar with a shot, and we went close numerous times. Matty Kennedy was named man of the match, followed closely by Oli Hawkins. Three more points, and up to 6th place in the table.

Danny Rose has a fracture and will be out for some time - worrying as he was just at the start of negotiating a new contract.
