With the season’s finish line fast approaching, the games continue to come thick and fast for Pompey.

They travel to Morecambe on Easter Monday after first returning to Fratton Park for a Good Friday contest with Lincoln (3pm kick-off).

There are plenty of connections between the two teams, with Joe Morrell, Sean Raggett and Tyler Walker for the hosts, and Chris Maguire and John Marquis for the visitors, all having previously been employed by the other club.

Both managers also had spells in charge of their opponents, although will probably have contrasting feelings about their time at the helm.

Michael Appleton certainly underwent a turbulent experience after the Blues went into administration soon after he took charge.

The memories will be fonder for Danny and Nicky Cowley, who helped lead Lincoln into League One from the National League.

They were also in charge when the Imps became the first non-league club to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for more than a century, with Raggett getting the winner against top-flight Burnley in 2017.

The men from Sincil Bank currently sit 18th and are not completely safe from the drop, although do hold a healthy eight-point gap to the bottom four.

City were 1-0 winners on their trip to the south coast last season, but goals from Marcus Harness, George Hirst and Reeco Hackett saw the Blues ease to a 3-0 victory at Sincil Bank earlier in the current campaign.

    TEAM NEWS
Kieron Freeman (ankle), Reeco Hackett (knee) and Jayden Reid (knee) all remain sidelined for Pompey.
Denver Hume (back) is closing in on being available again, while Marcus Harness (knee), Michael Jacobs (hamstring) and Louis Thompson (hip) are all doubts.

Lincoln have been hit by the news that Liam Bridcutt will miss the remainder of the campaign with a quad problem.

    HEAD TO HEAD
    Overall
    Pompey: 12 wins
    Lincoln: 6 wins
    5 draws

    At Fratton Park
    Pompey: 6 wins
    Lincoln: 3 wins
    3 draws

0-0 at halftime. We lost Joe Morrell with a leg injury in the 11th minute, replaced by Ryan Tunnicliffe. Yellow card to Louis Thompson in the 33rd minute for a foul.

We haven't really got into our stride in the first 45 minutes. Hopefully the second half will be better.

Much more entertainment in the 2nd half - regrettably partly due to some uncharacteristically poor defending by Pompey that kept Lincoln in it.
    • Worth staying up for the Jacobs free kick alone!!!

Final whistle. 3-2 to Pompey. End to end second half, with Lincoln playing their part in an exciting second half.

We took a 2-0 lead, firstly with a penalty from George Hirst (his 12th goal of the season) in the 50th minute, following a nasty high kick in the chest by Liam Cullen on Michael Jacobs. The second goal came from a superb free kick by Michael Jacobs (his 7th goal of the season) in the 68th minute, after he had been fouled from behind by Adam Jackson who was booked for the challenge.

In the 70th minute, Teddy Bishop scored to make it 2-1. In the 78th minute, it was 2-2, with a goal from Ben House, just a minute after coming on as a substitute for John Marquis.

In the 82nd minute, it was 3-2 to Pompey with Ronan Curtis cooly putting a loose ball in the back of the net, after their keeper saved a fierce Sean Raggett shot from outside the area, but couldn't hold the ball. We then held on through 8 minutes of time added on (God knows where that came from !).

Good to see Pompey playing stress-free football now that the pressure is off.

Unbelievable high total is required to get into the play-offs this season with the Pilgrims on 78 who still haven't sealed their place.

I sense that oñe of Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland will secure promotion, to.balance the arrival of Derby Country in the división next season.
