Did we come against a good team today or were our failings of our own making? The match stats say we gave it a good go but did an ex-league 1 team show that we have a long way to go?
We had both Jekyll and Hyde playing for us today. Started slowly, and were poor to be honest. Only got going when Carl Baker scored a nicely taken goal, but just couldn't find an equaliser, despite plenty of chances. Almost 17,000 fans there today, who deserved better.

Agreed - its only as good as those who want to participate but this whole forum is slowly becoming a graveyard - you and I keep it going during the week but the participants in debate (something as a Sotonian I steer clear of) is virtually non existant. I will keep it going as at least originally it was 4 of us but I don't know if SB3 has dropped off so if you me and Eastney want to continue I think we should at least it gives us a further interest in the weekends results. Clocks went forward last night sign summer is approaching and a very nice sunny 26 today pity the poor buggers playing in the rugby league Grand Final.
I was surprised by the two results this week as it looked, as an outsider, that Portsmouth had eventually pulled things around. I saw the highlights of yesterday's match on TV last night and you would have thought from the size of the crowd that it was a Championship match. I still think Portsmouth are good enough for a play-off place. The automatic places will probably be beyond you if you continue to be inconsistent. It is strange that , from the perspective of a Southampton supporter, you are not able to dominate this league. The fate of Plymouth last season showed that nothing is certain in this league. Disappointed with Winchester being knocked out of the FA Cup last night to an injury time winner from Harrow. I would love to have seen WCFC play Portsmouth in Round One!! Anyone else following non-league football as well as the professional game. Must admit to finding it refreshing and it is nice being able to get "Cup fever" in September !! Shame this chatroom is diminishing. Must admit that I find it a bit more friendly than the Saints room and the discussions have often been well thought out.
For Christ sake don't let this site go. There are only 3 of us still breathing in league 2 now that Brizzle have left the room. We may be small but we're perfectly formed.....
Indeed troops - we are it must be said a small band of brothers who fight on - long may that continue. If we maintain ....others will come.......to paraphrase a great film.
