Pompey switch their focus back to the League One promotion race after progressing in two other competitions over the past week.

Kenny Jackett’s side have home ties against Barnsley and Scunthorpe in the FA Cup and Leasing.com Trophy to look forward to later this month.

But it is the quest to climb the table that takes centre stage on Saturday, as AFC Wimbledon head to Fratton Park.

The Blues are just one point outside the play-off spots with half their fixtures remaining – and only six adrift of second position.

Their opponents, meanwhile, are more concerned with events at the other end of the division and trying to pull away from the danger zone.

Glyn Hodges is the man tasked with trying to avoid taking the battle to beat the drop to the final day for a second successive season.

He began the campaign as assistant manager, but took the top job after Wally Downes was charged by The FA for a breach of betting regulations.

Pompey were narrowly beaten when they visited Kingsmeadow back in October, courtesy of a last-gasp goal from Terell Thomas.

    TEAM NEWS
Cameron McGeehan could be handed his Pompey debut after completing a loan switch from Barnsley earlier in the week.

Fellow new signings Steve Seddon and Reeco Hackett-Fairchild will also be hoping to make their Fratton bows.

Lee Brown (Achilles), Ross McCrorie (hamstring), Bryn Morris (groin) and Ryan Williams (groin) are all still absent.

Brandon Haunstrup (meniscus) and Jack Whatmough (knee) are both back in training, but not ready to feature on Saturday.

AFC Wimbledon’s new loan defender Mads Bech Sorensen could make his first appearance after arriving from Brentford.

The visitors will be without Kwesi Appiah (ankle), Paul Kalambayi (ankle), Will Nightingale (hip), Adam Roscrow (thigh) and Anthony Wordsworth (calf).

Good 2-1 win today over the Wombles. Excellent first half, with a superb goal from Marcus Harness in the 20th minute assisted by Andy Cannon after a lovely through ball out of defence from Sean Raggett.

They didn't deserve their equaliser in the 62nd minute from Joe Pigott, but we fought back with a lovely header by substitute John Marquis from an accurate Ronan Curtis cross in the 79th minute. They had substitute Sean Wagstaff red carded in the 84th minute after receiving a second yellow card - he had only been on the pitch for 13 minutes !!

Promising debuts from Cameron McGeehan in midfield, and home debut by left back Steve Seddon. Also good to see fit again Brandon Haunstrup and Jack Whatmough on the subs bench.

Another three points, and up to 7th in the table, level on points with 6th placed Sunderland.
