According to Pompey's official site, the pitch inspection at 09.15 am showed the pitch to be o.k. and playable Too early to post our starting line up, but presume it will be something like this:- Trevor Carson in goal Daniel Alfei and Marcos Painter as full backs Ben Chorley and Sonny Bradley at centre half Wes Fogden and Andy Barcham as wingers Nicky Shorey and Therry Racon in central midfield Jake Jervis and Ryan Taylor up front On the Bench, probably:- Phil Smith / Bondz N'Gala / Jed Wallace / Ricky Holmes / Patrick Agyemang / Johnny Ertl / Romain Padovani Presume Richie Barker not going to risk either Joe Devera or Simon Ferry on the bench. Wouldn't mind seeing Jack Watmough on the bench. Both Jack Maloney and Nick Awford have gone out on loan this week to non-league clubs. Depending on weather/ferry, will hopefully be going to FP this afternoon. That being the case will rejoin the thread when I get back home PUP
Well, I'm glad we won and the points are certainly welcome, in addition other results went our way as well. However we've only scored more than one goal in three games out of the last 23.
We won! Got some breathing space from the relegation spaces now. Also, Ryan Bird scored both today for Cambridge in their FA Trophy win over Grimsby. Good to see him doing well. I'd like to keep him next season.
Thank the Good Lord, we needed that win ! Three points, and a clean sheet thanks to some excellent defending, especially by Ben Chorley & Sonny Bradley, and a couple of class saves by Trevor Carson. To my mind, a wee bit overun in midfield, but a superb headed goal from Ryan Taylor to win the match. Just our luck though, he scores a goal, he cuts his head, and he injures his groin, all in rapid succession. How on earth did the second two occur ? Big Pat played well when he came on for Taylor, holding the ball up well. The Dons played some nice football, but we defended well for the last 10 minutes (well, almost "squeaky bum" time ) Fantastic support from the Wimbledon fans (apart from the fact they went very quiet when we scored), no sign of Great Uncle Bulgaria, but I'd swear to God that Bungo was wearing their number 9 shirt..... Onwards and upwards
Just seen the following amusing comment on the truebluearmy.com site:- "Ten minutes from the end, the tannoy announcer's voice boomed out from the speakers. He asked all senior supervisors to contact control on the emergency phones. It sounded serious. Presumably it was so they could be reminded about how to control the home fans in the event of a win". Must admit, I haven't seen so many police at FP for a while - Dons fans aren't troublemakers normally, are they ?
Think they caused a bit of **** before the game. They have an unfortunate yoof much the same as mansfield and southend that give it the big one then rapidly disperse if any one wants to show them the consequences of their actions
