EDIT - http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...rumours-of-tycoon-s-pompey-takeover-1-3614424 We know a good owner is worth his weight in Gold However, it looks like Goldhar is NOT our guy!
I've seen the rumour before. It came from a telegraph article asking if Goldhar was interested in coming to England and speculated that he might be interested in Pompey but no firm evidence.
Article apparently in The Sun on Sunday, states that he has been introduced to PFC by Pini Zahavi, the Israeli 'super agent'. He owns Maccabi Tel Aviv, so (a) is he a friend of Sasha Gaydamak (or his dad) ? (b) are you allowed to own two football clubs at the same time ? Answers on the back of a postcard to.............................
Arcadi Gaydamak owned Beitar Jerusalem from 2005 to 2009 while Mitchell Goldhar has owned Maccabi Tel Aviv since 2009 so I'm not sure whether he had any real contact with the Gaydamak's at all. Anyone involved in football in Isreal knows Zahavi so it is not inconcievable that Goldhar might have been introduced to Pompey through him but there is no evidence that that is the case either. As far as I know you are not allowed to own two football clubs or have large shares in two football clubs because it could cause a conflict of interests if the two clubs were ever to meet in a tournament somewhere however there might be a case to be had if the clubs are in different countries and unlikely to play each other outside of friendlies any time in the near future.
