The 17-year-old has been closely watched by England u18s manager Noel Blake, but Michael Appleton has had to turn the approach away in recent weeks because of how vital Webster has been. Now it is time for Webster to join up with the squad.
The under-18s face Italy on Wednesday night at The One Call Stadium (Mansfield Town FC), where he will join fellow debutants, Everton midfielder Conor Grant, Liverpool starlet Jordan Ibe, Manchester United midfielder Liam Grimshaw and Norwich City attacker Josh Murphy.
Webster tweeted on Sunday morning: “On the way to meet up with the England u18 squad! #nervous“

Good luck to Adam - a very well deserved call up <ok>

Maybe other clubs like yourselves, struggling financially should be used by larger clubs to loan out young talent for at least two seasons to gain real league football experience ?
Which is better for these young talented players. To play in under 18 and 21 leagues with players there own age and experience or to play for clubs like yourselves where they gain different football experiences ?

Not a bad suggestion, Possum.

As long as the player's own club subsidise the wages when he is out on loan, it could do everyone a favour - both the clubs, and the young player himself, gaining invaluable first team experience.

Welcome to NOT606, HantsFootball !

I've just read the write up for the FA Youth Cup match against Southend Utd at Fratton Park this evening. Match finished 2-1 to Pompey, and it sounded like it was a pretty good game.

UPDATE:

Adam Webster has been called up to the England under-19s squad.

The Pompey defender last week made his under-18 debut during a 2-0 win over Italy.

Now Three Lions boss Noel Blake has promoted him, alongside two other players, into the under-19 set-up.

Webster is part of the 18-man squad that will take on Finland on Tuesday, November 13.

The fixture will be hosted at the home of AFC Telford.

Also included is Portsmouth-born midfielder James Ward-Prowse, who plays for Southampton.

Well done Adam <ok>

Another Update:

Adam Webster came off the bench to help England under-19s to a 1-0 victory over Finland last night.

The Pompey defender was brought on by under-19 boss – and former Fratton Park favourite – Noel Blake at the start of the second half, with the match goalless.

And Webster played a part in seeing the young Three Lions triumph at Telford as England took the friendly honours thanks to an injury-time penalty from Everton’s John Lundstram.

It was the second England under-19 appearance for Chichester-born Webster, who has forged his way into Pompey’s first-team plans this season.

Also featuring in the England team last night was James Ward-Prowse, who grew up in Portsmouth but now plays for Southampton.

Keep it up Adam, keep it up <ok>

Any chance he'll get some first team games for Pompey ??

He looks like a very talented young player, so surely Guy should play him sometime soon <ok>

It's great to see a player at any age play for England who wears your club colours .
Seeing 3 Southampton lads in that game was excellent and should have been 4.
So many youngsters that play for England at a young age never seem to progress to a high level and I often wonder if some of that's because they play to long in youth teams.
I loved the fact that Southampton named 17 year olds in their Premier league squad, Ward Prouse to name one and he has cut his teeth so to speak already. The others have been on the bench and played in the League Cup but more importantly they train every day with the First team players and learn so much more that way.
Does your lad train and play with the first team ?

I'm sure players didn't look as young, when I was that age!

Thats great for him as a player and Portsmouth as a club.
When a club has young players playing for England it becomes a great asset to encourage other youth players to sign and apply their trade, and for clubs like ourselves that becomes so important to survive in todays Football Business industry. <ok>

Ashley Harris looks like he's about 12, and also like he should be in the band McFly.

To be fair, the Da Silva twins also look about 12.

Oscar, Chelsea's Brazilian midfielder, looks about the age of 12, yet he's 20 <yikes>
