Absolutely fantastic condition and suited our style of play massively. Shows how important it will be to get our pitch to a decent standard. We played some great stuff last night, literally taking the piss at times.
Watching Portsmouth last night reminded very much of us under parkison. Some decent players with no direction or game plan. Just played the long ball which may well work against poorer opposition bur I thought sanderson was tremendous again last night
And more decent pitches in the championship There was concern about us going up and struggling before but now I feel we are in good stead to compete rather than be whipping boys. I thought we played more long balls than Pompey, but I agree, they lacked a plan. It was a tight game that without the early goal could have gone either way. The difference was, we played as a team and had the belief, and that was the consequence of a very good run of form prior to the game.
When England were trying to get the World Cup and the SOL was visited the standard of the pitch received rave reviews from everyone concerned and it was regarded as one of the best playing surfaces they had seen . The chuckle brothers cut backs in all areas had a detrimental effect throughout all areas of the club and unfortunately the pitch and ground staff were impacted and was reflected in the condition of the pitch , thankfully the new owner and LJ have found the finance to spend half a million to rectify the problems. Hopefully we can improve our standard of football on an improved playing surface and achieve our promotion aspirations .
