As there has been a poll on other message boards about this, why should we be left out? Simple question answer Yes or No. Poll closes approximately 5pm Saturday when depending on other results we may know our fate. PS.. No sitting on the fence allowed.
A lot to ponder here, not sure what the alternatives are. What kind of a squad will we have next season considering that a transfer embargo is a distinct possibility? Would anyone else of repute be up for the challenge if that were the case? I would also like to see how the team does in our last three games. 6+ points and I'm sure most of us would favour giving him a chance, however I'm not holding my breath. On balance I would have to vote no.
I'm voting yes, purely for pragmatism. We may hit rough water with FFP. What decent manager will come to us with sanctions hanging over our head including an embargo? And it could take longer than the summer to resolve, if there's litigation. CR is no fool, probably cheap (as manager of a team being relegated), and seems a decent man-manager to carry the dressing room. Whether he can identify talent we'll need to replace leaving players, I can't say. Nor whether he'll improve on tactics with a team that he builds. Beggars can't be chooses, and under FL rules, we are beggars now and will have to live within limited means. Yes, austerity has finally reached QPR.
I'd also like to see how we do the next 3 games, and I think the Club should only finalise this decision, and other key decisions at the end of the season, but then sharpish. But as of now I'll vote Yes.
I voted yes.....but with some help and please get rid of Bond....he is just a bad omen now. Ironically Bond's last job as No 1 was at Bournemouth when he nearly took them to the conference!!!!!!!!
That's it. I would also like a clear and realistic statement from the owners as to their short/medium term ambitions. What I'd like to hear is: "We recognise that we have a major rebuild to do. We also recognise that the economics of how we have run the football side of the club are unsustainable, we must rebuild for the long term and within a clear budget. In this context we do not expect to be challenging for promotion next season, but be putting the foundations in place for a strong challenge in future seasons, with a team we have put together to give us continuity when we do get back to the Premiership. Our manager, XXXXX, has three seasons at least to get us there. In the meantime we will expedite the training ground development and press on with a 30,000 seater new stadium". Easy.
Not convinced he's the grinder we need to get us back to the PL, nor the skilful manager to keep us there. A good man but next appointment critical if TF wants to avoid wasting a few more tens of millions. Having said that, no idea who.
I've got no idea who the other candidates are or what our budget will be but based on the limited info available, it's a yes from me.
Yes for me. We tried the big names and clearly they clearly dident work. Its ok saying we dodent want CR but whoever we appoint would be a gamble.
Next season wouldn't have been all financial doom and gloom if TF had made the right appointment back in February. It is only so as Ramsey has proved to be disastrous.
Have to disagree Fingi....we were always likely (in my head anyway) to go down and it wouldn't have made the slightest difference who was in charge after Harold hobbled away.....At the end of the day Fernandez simply couldn't afford to take a chance on that chancer Sherwood, the club quite simply didn't have the funds.......the owners probably already had an eye on next season when they appointed Ramsey......it was an appointment for the up coming period of austerity.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that Tramore. We were within touching distance of staying up back in February. Because we made totally the wrong appointment, we are going down with a whimper and are 7 points from safety. We were never "always going down". 2 wins from 13 has ensured we are going down. Sherwood wanted £3m per year. I don't like him at all but if he keeps Villa up, that £3m per year will be chicken feed compared to the financial implication of relegation. Especially for us with our FPP situation.
That's a tad selective Fingi and not what I said.......read it again. Ramsey was dealt a bad hand thanks to Harold and it is all hypothetical to say that so and so would have kept us up...we don't know that for sure. Apart from the Palace game we have been competative in every game Ramsey has been in charge, he is not to blame for Barton's Red Card at Hull, or Austin's missed penalty against West Ham, or Pawson's inability to give 2 penalties against Spurs, or Austin hitting the bar instead of scoring in that game, or a defence conceeding so many goals in the last 10 minutes of games that we have dropped 10 points......you get the gist. We have that combination of not being very good or very lucky. Yes the financial implications are dire but a lot of the situation that has been created this season is down to Redknapp and not Ramsey, it was Redknapp who said that we would be playing 352, sold our only recognised right back to Leicester, brought an aging CB when we were already overloaded with them and then abandoned the whole thing half way through the 2nd game of the season. Redknapp was the only person who thought Remy would stay and didn't buy a replacement striker.......Do I need to go on? Villa will survive because of Benteke who is a seriously good player who unfortunately leaves Austin in the shade for quality, they got lucky, we didn't.
Voted yes, anyway it's pure speculation that he will be in charge, but would like different back room staff & play different style of football, whether he can manage that side of it I don't know but willing to give him a chance.
Give him 3 seasons is a crazy mindset. There's an idea in football that continuity ='s good and people will point to united under Fergie or Arsenal under Wenger. Point there missing is you only stick with that manager if they are good at their job. Chris '4 CB's and 3 CDM's in a must win game' Ramsey has not shown himself to be a good manager and he is in experienced. Warburton is a cheap alternative and he knows the league we'll need to shop in far better than Les and Ramsey. Continuity is not a positive in itself. How would United have faired if they stuck with Ron Atkinson instead or Arsenal with Bruce Rioch??
