Trump is a twat no doubt. Unfortunately he is also a bully. He and Putin should get on well!!..............
Peoples opinion of Brexit is very divided........just as the vote to leave was when you include NI and Scotland.........In England and wales the votes were not split but voted heavily for splitting with Europe. Just bare in mind neither of the political parties actually wanted to leave. So the Brexit vote came from all fronts, left, right and centre!! I can understand why some of the younger element are concerned, nobody can predict what is likely to happen in the future. You can only guess according to your point of view. Going back to the 50's and 60's when we kept applying to join the market De Gaulle kept putting the knife in and as a consequence we weren't allowed to join. Although eventually we managed it. I voted against joining then as I was fearful of it turning into a political arena, rather than just a trade agreement, as has proved, although granted it was very gradual. I don't know if it is the right or wrong thing to do in this day and age. I do know though as a result of our being in the EU to a certain extent we have lost our British way of life. Everything we do or say is governed by non elected people..... Even our very own courts can be over ruled!! That for me that is not the way to go.........but hey what do I know...........

'Our British way of life' of being governed by Public School Ninnies you mean? :emoticon-0105-wink:
I think our BWOL is actually more affected by global corporations

This doesn’t make good reading. Armed forces homes, sold off to a private company, in 1996, with a deal stating that the MOD would rent the homes back for up to “two centuries”!!!!!
We, the tax payers, are paying rent on up to 10000 empty houses!!!!!!

What a waste of money.

It’s awful. So many people need housing or a room even and we have this ****. A “sharp” and immoral business person doing a deal with a civil authority = huge tax payer cost every time.

Fortunately not mine either, but I remember all too well all those Sun headlines proclaiming Murdoch’s influence Beddy. You simply can’t ignore it.

I was under the impression that most of our generation ignored it...........The only thing going for that paper was page 3. Which was indeed a bit of a revolution at the time. The paper was banned in our house then and still is today......and to be honest in our family any thing in the papers even today is taken with a pinch of salt.

Although lesser so in these computer and social media savvy days.

I don’t think you can underestimate the influence the media still has on a person’s political views, computer savvy or not.
If you are drip fed a specific bias on a daily basis it takes a very strong and independent mind to ignore it and vote in a different direction.
It would be interesting to know how many people choose to read a specific paper, because it supports their political view, and how many people choose to support a specific political party because of the views of the paper they have grown up with, being, for want of a better word, indoctrinated into supporting the view of the newspaper as a result of it’s writing being slanted.

What were the headlines about gents - I was a bit young then :)
The most noteworthy was the famous “It’s the Sun Wot Won It” in 1992 after the paper’s campaign turned what looked like a narrow Labour win or hung parliament into a 21 seat majority for a John Major. The Election Day headline was the equally famous “If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain turn out the lights.”

It’s the strangling of other views that’s the issue. He bought the Times, then there’s Sky (BSkyB) etc

Imp mentioned confusion on the Brexit policies earlier. You tell me where I can get a serious left or centre view on the party policies.
Not saying there any consensus in either party but The Tory dirty laundry is on display whereas labours is hidden in a locked room

Clearly there were some headlines back then as the guys mentioned them. I’d love to know what they were about. I was born in 69, so 70s headlines passed me by.
