Next time I'd recommend he just shoots himself at home and avoid ruining other peoples lives.

If he lives with others theres plenty of barren land.

Further update...I couldn't see anything on GC that referred to the killers identity, but I came across this comment while there, I hope it helps...

    The cop or cop killer?

The darker the skin the bigger the news.

That's the 17th police officer to be shot and killed in Britain since 1945.

He was about to retire as well.

What can you say, it's just tragic but not surprising.

Anyone who decides to shoot someone over a routine search and then shoots himself clearly has issues far beyond the norm. Who knows, probably let out early from some institution.

When someone is prepared to take their own life, you are in a no win situation. Where ever it was, I assume he would have been prepared to use that gun at anytime, whether it be at the custody centre or beforehand. Not really much that is going to protect you from that situation, other than any prior surveillance or intellligence information.

Which puts another question in my head, why don't they cuff them with their hands behind their back?

I think they use to front handcuff them for the prison vans (centre rail)......not that I would know anything about this sort of stuff <whistle>

And I am assuming he'd not long been arrested and hadn't been transferred from a prison van.
