I think it was fairly obvious from Burnsy's interview, that the police had no specific information about anything and they were simply screwing everyone on the basis that there was a 1 in 500 chance that some people might get pissed and annoy someone enough that they wrote to the local paper. It's purely discrimination against football fans. The police say due to the late kick-off time, it means the possibility of people drinking for longer and causing trouble. Hull FC go to Huddersfield 2 weeks before us, with a later kick-off time, yet there aren't any restrictions for that game.
