To survive in the Prem. the points target is generally accepted as 40. So logically we need to reach at least 20 points by the end of the year.

It probably isn’t that straightforward though because points are much harder to come by in the second year due to teams scrapping against relegation or fighting for honours / Europe.

The best example of this was our first season in the top flight when Brownie’s team achieved 20 points after 9 games, but finished one point above the drop zone with 35 points from 38 games.

So with that said where do you see our points coming from the last 6 games of 2013?

    Arsenal (away)

    Swansea (away)

    Stoke (home)

    West Brom. (away)

    Man. U. (home)

    Fulham (home)

That's 13 points I can see. Obviously we'll lose against Stoke and draw against Fulham.

I won't bother predicting a points tally but I will say that we have no-one to fear at home.

That's what Sunday's result has done. Instead of looking at Stoke and Fulham as the only 2 games at
home that we'll get anything, we can now look to the Man U game and think we have a realistic chance.

I predict that if I can predict the above 6 matches I could actually give up work.
We beat Lpool yet lose to Palace so good luck with your forecasts lads.

I'm an optimist, I'm going to predict 13 points. I was the only person in the group I go with to predict us to beat Liverpool, but I did also predict we would lose to Palace...

Arsenal (away) 0 (another great performance unlucky to lose 2-1)
    Swansea (away) 1
    Stoke (home) 3
    West Brom. (away) 3
    Man. U. (home) 3
    Fulham (home) 3

An optimistic 8 points, although would be very happy with 6 points, beating Stoke and Fulham, leaving us with 23 at the half way mark.

    Arsenal (away) 0
    Swansea (away) 1
    Stoke (home) 3
    West Brom. (away) 1
    Man. U. (home) 0
    Fulham (home) 3

If we beat Stoke and Fulham and nick a draw against WBA I'll be over the moon. Anything else would be a bonus.

I'd predicted 10 points from Dec's fixtures on the Dec fixture thread (Start losing sleep? or something similar). Didn't expect 3 on Saturday though.

Wins against WBA, Stoke & Fulham to come. Maybe even sneak a draw against Swansea or United.

    Currently feeling very optimistic.

I predicted 10 points out of December on the thread last week and nothing has changed my mind on that. Fingers, toes etc stay crossed...

I agree 6 will be acceptable, and 8 would be great, anything more than that would be beyond belief.

If we can get our total points tally to 20 by the end of the year then that will be a very good return from the first 4 months.

Hard to predict where the points will come from, but you have to look towards the home games, anything away is a bonus.

It's good to know that next year we will only have to travel to Liverpool and Man. U. out of all of the teams above us. And Liverpool away is new years day so that will be out of the way soon.

I think 9 is possible, taking us to 26 effectively through the first half. So 14 in the second half should be enough for safety and we should comfortably exceed that. Stoke and Fulham are good bets for 6 points. Swansea could be without Michu and Rangel and possibly Bony, three very key players, and are struggling, so I think a draw or win there is possible next Monday with Curtis back. And we have almost all the top teams at home in the second half. Its looking good IMO. Just need another top striker in January.

It's amazing how other fans see Man U now. A few years a go, very few fans would see them picking up points against them, but now people seem confident of getting 1 or 3 against them now.

    I'd go;

    Arsenal (away) 0
    Swansea (away) 3
    Stoke (home) 3
    West Brom. (away) 0
    Man. U. (home) 1
    Fulham (home) 3
