****ing hell. on "this morning"....this morning, there was research that said cinnamon can reduce the chance of alzheimers. do these twats just use random things to try and combat diseases with?
"The average daily calorie intake in the US has increased by almost a third in 30 years, reaching 2,374 kilocalories." i thought the average a bloke should aim for is 2,500 a day?
i reckon whoever works in the research depts just sits about monging it all year and when their boss rocks up and goes; "right lads, what have you got for us?" "er......" looks around, sees a fat bloke eating a packet of monster munch "....snacking makes you fat?"
The general advice used to be that men required 2000-2200 calories per day just to stay still in terms of weight management. However, recent thinking has challenged this. There are several 'new' methods which can be used for more personal calculations. First, a man can calculate his Basal Metabolic Rate. This is generally the body weight x 10 and then twice the bodyweight added. So if someone is 200 lbs, 2000 + (2 x 200) gives 2,400 so he would need 2400 calories each day to maintain his weight. Also the levels of physical activity can affect how many calories we consume. But usually we all overestimate how much activity we do ! The final thing to remember is that 10% of the calories we eat will be used to 'burn' the food i.e. digest it, so if a male eats 2000 calories, he will burn 200 of those, just by digesting the food. i didnt write that myself btw, i copy and pasted it. im not that sad
