Something about Lukas Podolski suggested that he was going to hit the ground running at Arsenal. He just seems like a 'good fit'. The game against Cologne yesterday demonstrated that, he looked every bit an Arsenal player and very comfortable playing in our team.

With the extra support of Giroud and Cazorla, it looks like Podolski is going to get plenty of chances this season. I know it's a bit early to tell - and we've not even kicked off the season proper yet, but something tells me that Podolski is going to be a big name this season.

    Robin van who ?

    Persie I believe.:)

Also yup on podolski think he will do wellplus he is a guaranteed starter on the lwf or st. Would love to see him play with rvp. So much happier that he will play instead of gervino

Yeah - bit tongue in cheek with the RV? reference. I too would love to see RVP and Podolski link up together, they would be immense.

We have added depth... we can afford to play two strikers or one up front, or a front three. Feeling a lot more optimistic about this season and with the promise of a few more signings things can only get better. Check out this vid of Podolski, absolute beast. Will have to see how he does against better defences though.

The bonus with Podolski is that even if he's not scoring goals he'll at least work hard, unlike Chamakh, Gervinho, Arshavin

Yeah Podolski will be a great signing.

Your right he does fit our style of play but he also brings a little more directness and work ethic.

For a striker he's very aggressive and will not shy away from physical battles. (therefore the EPL shouldnt be much of a shock to him)

Podolski and Carzorla I am confident about. I hav'nt seen enough of Giroud to really make my mind up.

Like I've said before if we add Sahin or MVila I think it would have been a near perfect Summer for us.

Gervihno? Gervihno really? He's one of the most hard working players in our team.

He's fairly hardworking, quick, skillful but ultimately ...infuriating.

For all the abuse Walcott gets his 'end product' is MUCH more efficient than Gervinho.

Podolski's end product is FAR FAR better than either mind you. He can pick a pass, take a great freekick and has a cannon of a left foot.

I agree about the end product. I was just arguing that Gervihno isn't lazy.

We looked very fluent against cologne, i'm mystified as to what genius decided to have international friendlies before the start of the new season but hopefully all of our players that are involved will remain injury free. It will be interesting to see who starts on saturday, i think at least one of the signings will but i'd be surprised if all 3 did i'd expect gervinho to start on the left with either giroud or podolski down the middle. In terms of gervinho he may look lazy at points and clearly the defensive side of his game is alot to be admired but he has great attacking attributes and with his pace and skill he will create chances for both himself and the other 2 in our front 3.

Most people are under the assumption that RvP will be on his way to manchester.

I didn't say that Podolski was better than RVP and I'm not writing off RVP as an Arsenal player at all. I very much hope he stays with us. I'm firmly of the opinion that we would be very unwise to sell him, especially to Utd.

I'm also aware the Podolski hasn't even played a PL game yet, as I mentioned that in the OP.

I would'nt say there's no comparison. First lets see how Podolski adapts under Wenger.

Look at what Wenger did with Henry, Adebayor, Van Persie, Pires etc..

Podolski has all the raw ingredients Wenger may push him to the next level like he has with soo many other players.

Not sure why you're including Walcott, Arshavin, Reyes or Eduardo in that list. They are all skillful players.

And Wenger does have a well renowned talent for moulding good players into brilliant ones - and for plucking out a bargain when he sees one. I would suggest that the equivalents of a Podolski or Cazorla would set Fergie or Mancini back nearer the £30m mark as they are more renowned for paying those sorts of figures <ok>
