This could be a long running thread hopefully. I believe he will be given at least 2 full seasons and even then would have to be doing poorly to leave. Probably won't stay 10 years (who does, you'd get stuck in a rut ), but more than 2 seasons I would think.
I didn't realise until this morning that it was Pochettino who conceded the penalty when England beat Argentina in the 2002 World Cup.
I don't think he's a bad manager, I just don't think he's top quality. Spurs are a club that along with Everton are trying to displace one of the top four teams, but I just can't see him doing it. Especially given that Utd now have Van Gaal and will spend, Liverpool are likely to improve their defence, Chelsea and City have bought their places and Arsenal look likely to reinforce in the summer too. The spuds wasted a juggernaut load of cash last summer and it's doubtful that Pinocchio will be given another huge sum like that to spend, so he has to work with what he's got. And he has to do it all under the threat of the Axe from Levy, who sacks his managers if the wind changes direction.
If you mean me then, as usual, the options were limited to whatever suits the OP. I expect 3 or 4 seasons, and this option wasn't there. If I said 2 years, then it would look like I expected him to get the push early, which I don't.
Can you not see any way that the signings we made will come good? Do you think Soldado, Lamela, Capoue are poor players, or past it now? What if Pocchetino get them playing well - will you post that we spent wisely in the long run?
The guy's a very talented manager, though it pains me to say it. Loyalty is clearly not one of his qualities, but who expects that nowadays? Nothing would give me - a Saints fan - greater pleasure next season than to watch close ups of Levy sharpening the axe as a bemused Pochettino visibly disintegrates on the touchline. But that's not going to happen. He won't lose 5-2 to you lot or 3-0 to West Ham for a start, so Levy probably will give him time, and given time he'll deliver.
Spot on, I just can't see them displacing any of the current top 4. If anything, the only team I can realistically see dropping out the top 4 would be Liverpool, and they would just be replaced by Manure. Although I do agree with the fact that they did buy some over priced stuff, they do have some good players that Pochetimon can work with. The big problem is can Fester wait around long enough to let Pochetimon work some of his magic.
He should stick to tradition and sign Jermaine Defoe, David Bentley, David James and Tom Huddlestone.
I remember everyone being baffled when Saints sacked Adkins but Pochettino has done brilliantly. I plumped for 2 years as I think if he's successful he'll ditch them for a bigger club as he's already done twice in quick succession. Fair play to him too as that's what most footballers do as well. I may have missed it but I'm assuming there's no clause that stops him from attempting to r*pe Saints of all their good players is there? I mean, I know it meant nothing to Liverpool when they signed Rodgers as they did it anyway but as they're also a club that ignores contract clauses what do you expect...
Who cares what Arsenal do, even if we go into a season with 11 pieces of wood, we will still get 4th spot, that's something you can always guarantee, .
He buys time with instant control and pinpoint passing. He should start for England, let alone be in the squad.
They were saying on the radio last night that being that Pochettino resigned Southampton wouldn't have made an agreement with him not to poach their players.
I wonder if he had to buy out his contract then and, if so, Spurs compensated him for having that expense. Not that we'll ever know, just intrigued really.
