I know we have had a number of threads on who we should buy in the summer and who we think needs replacing but I don't remember a thread wondering which of our players could be poached by our competition. I am pleased that our players despite doing really well mostly seem to be under the radar but i would not be shocked if: Someone came in for Ruddy We are outbid for Naughton Fox runs his contract out and is poached I think that PL has been pretty smart in picking up players at the start of their careers such as the Bennetts/Howson/Pilkington/Ayala who are class but probably are too inexperienced to appeal to the bigger fish for another couple of years and i don't see our more experienced players such as Holty or Wesley wanting to leave and I can't see any of the massive clubs looking at them. Thoughts?
To be honest there hasnt really been any transfer talk of our players being linked with clubs as of yet unlike last year when adam was wanted by liverpool etc. You look at west brom, they kept hold of there side as did newcastle after coming up and i expect we aswell as swansea to be the same. I do expect maybe inquiries to be made, but i know exactly what mcnally will tell them to do (unless they offer silly money)! Im more concerned of what players we will be after will be poached from us! The players we will go after this summer will no doubt be wanted by others (with more dollar to offer aswell) !
Liverpool will offer Suarez and Carroll, plus £20million, for Holt - Lambert will reject the offer because he needs a proven Premier League goalscorer.
I'd say there is absolutely zero chance Foxy will run down his contract and move on so I don't think you need to worry about that one. From what I know he absolutely loves it here - he definitely loves working for Lambo - and I'd put my my house on both he and Zak signing a new contract as soon as the season is over Can't see Ruddy going anywhere either, but I do share your concerns about us being priced out of a deal for Kyle Naughton
Sign up Huckerby on a one year deal. It worked for Scholes so why not our best player of all time who isnt even that old.
I think we do the poaching don't we lol. I think the players know the sitaution and it's being sorted behind the scenes, probably now because survival is all but secured. It's actually been encouraging to hear Zak and Foxy recently. They are very happy here and determined to stay. Shows that theres a lot of loyalty in that group. We have a unique clique of players, I'm sure lambert wouldn't do anything silly.
Does this mean that something may have already been sorted out, or at least in the stages of being sorted? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17524155 He certainly uses the word 'WE' a lot.
Do you remember last year when Wes signed a contract in January and Lambert just never told anyone lol. It got to about April and he said "oh yeah, he signed it ages ago" Just slipped his mind that he signed one of our most important players on a new contract! No bones about it, Lambert is a sly old bastard. For Foxy and Zac in particular, I think they love being a part of this club. They'll get new deals I imagine
Maybe famous last words but I am pretty relaxed about this because our squad is far greater than the sum of the individuals. There are no obvious superstars (talisman in the form of Holt but not superstars) and a lot of team spirit thanks to PL. I can see three or four going and being replaced but it will be of our choosing. Also, we don't need the money do we?
not that i think any key players will leave this season but even if they were, lets face it, we have the best possible manager in charge to find an equal if not better replacement with any funds at his disposal
Couldn't agree more. If any player leaves it will be because he wants to, so why keep somebody who would rather be elsewhere?
....sorry i must take issue with you here, lambert is not old and as for the next bit, how do you know. he's a sly, youngish gogetter my friend.
fox isn't going anywhere...think what paul lambert and norwich has done for his career - he knows that pl rates him and i get the genuine feeling he loves playing here...why would he want to leave? before paul lambert he was playing reserve football for colchester united... if pilkington discovers his magic feet again, then i wouldn't be surprised to see someone after him, a blackburn maybe...particularly if they lose hoilett - and maybe ruddy...but i dont think he'd want to go either...i think we have a settled happy bunch who genuinely enjoy playing for the boss and the fans...
