Are now managerless! What, if any, effect will this have on DECLAN?

I'm not sure they ever really recovered from losing David Moyes to Everton!

Problem with a lot of clubs in north east is the number of
"more attractive" teams for the younger fans to follow.

Years ago when travel wasn't as easy as today all most
    everyone supported their local team.

The lure of BIG CLUBS is to their detriment

We are lucky to be the only team within 50 -60 miles
    of any other league teams.

I'd say it went wrong when they sacked Billy Davies. <ok>

they overspent for a while, that's my understanding, during the period when they got in the play offs, and then the owner reigned it in a bit

I never understood the sacking of Alan Irvine, I did rate him as a manager and they were consistently around the 5th-11th mark and had some good players most notably David Nugent... Plus they appointed Darren Ferguson and then loaned the Manchester united youth team and then promptly got relegated. They've been on a steady decline ever since

Yes it sums up the state of the game and it is getting worse. Serves the owners right in most cases, lookat Hughton being sacked by Newcastle and Allardyce by Blackburn for example. the Davies thing at Forest is ridiculous.

this was always likely to end in tears because of the way graham westley operates. his philosophies worked at stevenage with their non-league background but i never got the feeling it would work at preston. i can see why he was appointed - lots of players on decent salaries (at that level) under performing, having an easy life, not working hard - westley comes in, shakes them up, works them harder than they've ever worked before, makes them train from 9 to 5, treats them like children... and there you have his problem and the reason it was never going to work - he treats his players like children. they didn't and never really did take to his ways and didn't want to play for him. i can't recall who it was but someone on the binners board (when jewell was dismissed) suggested westley to take over... i only wish he had! can you imagine the fireworks with westley trying to get jet and chopra etc to do 9 to 5 training??? <laugh>
