Penny Mordaunt MP (Portsmouth North) has brought up the question of Pompey's plight at PMQ's. David Cameron revealed he 'knows a couple of Pompey fans' and understands what we're going through and agrees it's crazy to expect Pompey fans to go and support Southampton if the club were to fold.
Good old Penny she's jumping on any bandwagon she can at present. She's in the Snooze pretty much every night supporting all sorts of dodgy causes. She's picked a cracker this time out. Mike Hancock has seen it all before of course, so keeps his distance of anything with a Russian connection...
Yeah, David Cameron agreed with Penny Mordaunt, that Rickie Lambert could do with losing a bit of weight, and that LordDuckhunter is obsessed with Portsmouth F.C., and needs neutering............
DC knows "one or two Pompey fans". You can do your own punchline. Hancock is a bit of a weirdo isn't he.
This club has been ruined by a series of lieing, cheating and double crossing bar stewards over the years so why the surprise at another lot sticking their noses in.
I think the cynicism you display is well founded guys. A local MP trying to court popularity - I wonder when she last stood on the terraces singing PUP. And Cameron of course is not in the business of upsetting any Tory MP if he can help it, so he makes all the right noises. Can anyone seriously see him ring up HMCR and saying "lay off PFC guys". If my thread gives you the impression that I think most MP,s are untrustworthy - then you,re damned right I do!
She's always at it. Pictures of her and her gang, washing off graffiti but still amazingly clean. Sitting on a train seat, that has been reduced in size, to support the commuters, probably needed directions to Hilsea halt. Syd Rapson was a great MP for Pompey north, he lived in the Grove, was really dedicated to the area and just got on with it, without the spin.
Well spoken meowth! Although a Saints fan for many long years I have relatives who lived in the Grove & would substantiate your comments about its former MP People like her simply court cheap popularity to defend their shaky majorities & she sums up all that is wrong with local politics. She has no passion for your club whatever & would cringe at the thought of attending a game. I think shallow people like her would do better saying nothing than a load of hypocricy. At least the cranky Mike Hancock has held his silence on this desperate issue.
Maybe Cameron will be in the crowd on saturday, with his blue dreadlocks and Pompey Tattoos singing "play up Pompey" ? But....... I very much doubt it! he's out looking for the latest local bandwagon.
Now Mike Hancock is jumping on the bandwagon - lifted from the snooze: Prat. Does he think Cameron is going to make a donation? God give me patience with these idiots.
I don't really want a financial donation from the government. Imagine how much hatred there would be towards us.
I feel we're like the phone hacking scandal - everyone has known for a very long time that there have been activities going on there, by the owners, that (may) have criminal connotations, but let's have "light-touch" regulation there because they (the football authorities/government) know that they won't like what's been uncovered, and don't want to be seen as culpable.
I think Mike Hancock has spoken on our behalf, a few times in the past? I'd back anything he proposed, before one of Cameron's stooges. It's all spin these days. Which leads me neatly into.. Cameron actually thought that one of the England Cricket team was called Colin Wood. Fair enough, not a huge cricket fan. Yet there he was, not long after, down wiv da kids at de Oval in the crowd, on yet another painted wagon, probably explaining to the members, how the LBW rule REALLY works. What a Ricki.
