    So after the brilliant Alan Shearer we gave it to Martins, loved the guy, but should never have been number nine. Then we give it to judas, I mean Carroll, I thought that he would then show the loyalty lacking in football all over England, how wrong was I...****ing money grabbing Judas prick!

    Please retire this number, as there is no loyalty in football any more and letting twats like Carroll wear the shirt is a disgrace to both Shearer and the late great Milburn!

    I don't think Shearer was as loyal as people make out. He was on ridiculous wages, Carroll wasn't. I honestly think Carroll wouldve stayed if he was offered 80k per week and a tidy little downpayment for staying.

    Loyalty is long gone, and until transfer fees and wages are capped, it won't return.

    Might aswell retire it anyway... we wont ever sign a striker worthy of wearing it under Ashley anyway....

    Anyone else would have paid the same wages, if not more to Shearer back in his day though, I think it would be daft to say he was with us for the money.

    Puts Shearer's loyalty in retrospect really doesnt it.
