http://www.sport.co.uk/football/wilfried-bony-the-one-that-got-away/4851308/? This is the most objectionable copy I have read in many, many years. (Currently trying to find a way to comment - but I must follow the examples of the first two already there.)
I commented in another thread that it seems odd to me that we have not received any offers for Bony. He is proven and prolific in the Prem. yet all the big clubs have been acquirig strikers for big money from other leagues, that are not as prolific there, and untested in the Prem. Seems odd.
campion .... separate the theme of their article from the mindless swipes that little reporters feel they need to inject into their "reporting" or "analytical" pieces. The theme is interesting, the swipes are there to get one group or other to comment and raise the profile and advertising impressions on the article and hence revenue. the best way to hurt them is to ignore the article completely.
There are a section of Swan fans that think we should be treated different, in many ways, than all other teame... campiion should run for president ..
It's nice to see Bony getting the plaudits he deserves after his inaugural Premier League season, but the way the Swans are depicted in this article is ridiculous! I'm sure Bony's agent has been working hard to fashion a big money move, but Wilf seems intelligent enough to know he won't be guaranteed a starting position at Liverpool or Manchester City.
I'm surprised it's taken this long for some to realise we're only here to make up the numbers ,we are and never will be a "big " club due to many factors but I'm comfortable with that thought but all the same imo the article was disparaging and disrespectful all the same .
Players have great seasons on smaller clubs . If it wasnt for Bony , we would have got relegated. Big clubs are out on alert , and we are going to complain about making 8 or so if we sell him . Reminds me a bit when Martinez put in an offer for Bodde for 5 million when Roberto went to Wigan . A lot on here called Martinez a lot of names for making a good offer ... that we should have taken . We are the same as most small clubs except we have most fans from Wales , maybe thats it ..... .
It was interesting today to hear Alan Pardew say how difficult it is to compete with clubs who have champions league money. There are only a relatively small number of clubs throughout Europe who can afford the very best players. This means that those who have the ambition to play in European competitions have limited options. There must come a time when these players realise that their best bet is to be well paid at a club like Swansea in a league like the Premier League. Unfortunately there are two problems. The first is agents who are only interested in the commission the receive by moving players around. The second is journalists who are only interested in the top clubs and denigrating and causing problems for the smaller clubs makes them think they can get the inside stories at the bigger clubs. The knob who wrote the article that is being commented on seems to be one of those. There are 20 clubs in the PL and whilst we may not be able to compete with the top 6 we can with the other 14. We must remember that players are human beings with human ambitions and emotions and there will always be an opportunity for a player to move to a top club if he is good enough and who can blame him. This is the way of the world.
Could someone point out what exactly is wrong with this article? ....Its just a bunch of truth in my eyes , maybe someone can enlighted people on the problem with it
I have to agree, there is nothing wrong with the article, it's a journo saying his point of view. And to be honest, if we keep hold of Bony I will be thinking when he is knocking them in for fun "HOW DID WE KEEP HOLD OF HIM?!" same as external sources will, just like Mr. Johnson in this piece.
Im with these lot, don't see what is wrong with the article, we are NOT a big club, we most likely will never be a big club in our lifetimes, well some of you at least you old farts But yeah, I am wondering the same as roof, those who think its a bad article, explain, please, because I just don't see it.
Are you all so naive that you don't think journalists try to influence things so that they have something to write about. The article is not news, it is not an opinion about an event, it is simply sh-t stirring.
Article sums up what I have been thinking of nearly every signing of the top clubs, hopefully Bony will still be here September and if he is i'm sure the clubs who could afford him will be sorry come christmas.
