Comments (0) BRISTOL City boss Lee Johnson is stepping up his efforts to recruit a striker before the emergency loan window closes on March 24. City's head coach has made tow "strong enquiries" for attacking players and could even bolster his squad ahead of Saturday's trip to fellow Championship strugglers Fulham. The Robins already have five players on loan, the maximum permitted in any 18-man match-day squad under Football Association regulations, but Johnson is prepared to add a sixth in an attempt to help his team pull clear of relegation trouble. Johnson has identified a lack of goals and Championship quality in the final third as a problem and is now actively seeking a solution in the loan market. "We've really only got room for one more and we're waiting to hear back from the clubs involved." Linked with Brighton's Andrew Crofts earlier this week, Johnson was conscious of the potential need to bring in a midfield player to provide cover for the injured Korey Smith. But Smith is finally making progress in his recovery from an ankle problem and today had a protective boot removed. His return to light training means Johnson will now push ahead with plans to add to his strike-force and provide competition for Jonathan Kodjia, Aaron Wilbraham and Kieran Agard. Johnson added: "We needed to make sure we had cover going into the next stage and a lot depended on Korey's situation. If he is fit, then things change."
