How is it that a team of players with less Premiership experience combined than Ryan Giggs, with a manager with no Premiership experience, can pretty much outplay every single team at their own ground?

I just don't understand it. I honestly don't. It makes no sense at all.

Please don't get relegated for the next two years (gets easier after that). You guys are a massive credit to the Premier League. Just need to work on that away record.

    Spurs fan!

    Thanks mate <cheers>

Hopefully we will stay up this year though im not over confident!

Swansea have been playing this style of football for about 4yrs and the core of the team remains the same, the team is coached to play a certain system and that has been implemented by the board as much as the manager, the last 2 managers have basically been selected to fit into our style not the other way round, it will remain this way even if rodgers left.

It takes time to mould a passing team when you dont have money!! i guess it takes time when you do have money but one thing it does prove is that English/British players are as good as their continental opposition, they just need to have the right coaching system for them to flourish <ok>

Nice comment. Thank you. Our particular style of football has been evolving since Roberto Martinez was our manager in the lower divisions. We always have been a footballing side but he introduced the "continental" style to our game insisting that the ball had to be kept on the ground and the players had to pass and move.

We were in the Championship when Fulham came to the Liberty for a cup game. We drew 1-1 (Fulham would have been lucky to get nil) and played them off the park. Tommy Docherty said in the press that it was the finest display of pure football that he'd seen in 25 years.

We were great attacking but tended to leak goals. When Martinez moved on Sousa taught us how to defend but the goals dried up. Rodgers found the balance. To be honest, he was fortunate in coming to a club that was immersed from top to bottom in the belief that the game had to be played the right way. We wouldn't know how to play route one stuff and don't have the players to do it. We were a perfect fit. Rodgers took the reins but he already had players who knew how to play the type of game that he coached - they'd been doing it for years.

So Rodgers' task was much simpler than it might have been. He didn't need to preach or teach the footballing ethic because it was already embedded in our playing squad. What he did do was hone it, polish it and bring it on to its present level. Now, if that level is good enough to keep us in the PL, well and good. If it's not, we don't know how to change it, so we are all hoping at the Liberty that we can stay up and use the money to buy some quality additions to take us on. If we succeed, I hope we will be in the PL for some time to come.

Lotak, I hope that lengthy reply has answered your question - and good luck to Spurs. Just love watching them play the beautiful game as well.

I agree with Norway and Ivor. Previous Managers post Martinez have been selected to suit us. Rodgers was a lucky man but has the right philosophy and as Ivor says, has got the balance right. Has proved to have some good connections in the game as well.

Loved watching Spurs this season too, fair play. Looking a cert for top 4 at the very least imo.
