I just completed the annual count of my small change jar and found that I had £32 in there which goes to show how it can build up.

How many of you keep change jars? It got me thinking that if everyone gathered up all the small change laying around their homes, how much would there be?

You can collect obscene amounts of change. Used to just put my change in any old drawer. Decided during last spring clean to empty all the **** from drawers, under beds etc and got about 50 quid in full money bags and the half empty ones I couldnt change in the bank came to just under a tenner

Charity begins at home or so I keep telling myself to justify only giving at Lent.

I wonder how much Medro has from collecting those mysterious coins on his granny's grave?

I haven't taken any small change to the bank in years. Do they still give you those clear plastic bags to put all your shrapnel in?

I got a money bottle. I don't know how much is in it. I put 1,2 and 5p in it. I won't count it, I'll just take it to Sainsbury's when ever I can be bothered.

    Aye, that they do <ok>

As far as chairty is concerned I only contribute to things like cancer research because:
    a) Cancer scares the **** out of me
    b) none of your 3rd world charity money reaaches those who need it and if it does they grow dependant on it. A bank, like the Grameen bank, to help them work their way out of poverty through ecnomic means is a much better tool to help the third world

Why not just spend it in the first place.

Saves cleaning out an old jar.

Its going to be spent anyway.

What a bunch of thick fannies honestly.

Oh aye because I love carrying the mountains of 1p and 2p coins required to pay for something as simple as a sandwich, never mind a full grocery shopping <doh>

I didn't have to clean any jar out. I bought a big bottle to put them in.
