OH that hurt today.. Tuesday is now a must..the make up game.. No matter what though this has been a good season to build on..
Hi BC. I did listen today and to be fair think it was a just result. Burton are masters of 1 - 0 and hold on to it this season. Goal difference says a lot and you only have to look at their's for a side that high up the league. I'm not surprised the wheels have come off and to be fair said I thought it would a while back. I have never really thought of Argyle as playoff hopefuls to be honest. This season should be a season to build on and lets hope it isn't a flash in the pan. My feeling is it's season over even though there is still a way to go. The one thing it isn't going to be is a struggle this time and I'm grateful for that.
Jeez just been looking at your fixtures, Portsmouth on the final day could be massive crunch game at complete opposite ends of the table. Pompey to stay up and your lot to get play-offs.
Still the same problem....too much depending on Reid to score the goals.....without Alessandra to help carry the burden we seem to be rather toothless in front of goal. With nine goals scored in two consecutive matches we flattered to deceive and made us hope for more.....but it's better than fighting at the other end of the table.
Sweeping statements like "slashing the budget" don't count for a lot on here punchdrunk as people are more prepared to comment on what they know rather than just guess at. However, I would still like to think we will progress so next season being a playoff contender at least must be a target. With luck we have left behind the relegation dogfights.
It's quite funny Brb because at the start of the season almost everyone had Portsmouth down as a promotion cert and us down as an anything could happen but playoffs or promotion. I personally don't think either of us will be desperate for a result either way so it might just be a damp squib game. You never know though...... Alessandra is a huge miss for us and he was shaping to be my player of the season before injury. The football God can't quite stop messing us about just yet can he.
Alessandra is a big miss for sure: it's not just about his goals, it's about the way he links between the midfield and Reid. Tyler Harvey might be worth a try there, he has the skills but physically he's a racing dinghy against Alessandra's ocean going tug. Nothing to lose though so maybe he could be given a chance with no undue pressure on a young lad.
The difference with Argyle is so noticeable without Alessandra and it just emphasises his worth. Not sure if Tyler could fill a gap or even just plug it. He started with such promise but did fall away as games went on. He is a bit young in this league to be any kind of saviour. It does me no good to be saying it but I did think Argyle were flattering to deceive previously and although had improved a lot were still not what I'd call promotion candidates in any shape or form. Having said that this is a far worse league than I remember it being prior to our previous rise, I haven't really seen any side tearing up trees.
Talking of ripping up trees Sensible...i watched a Grizzly Bear do just that.. i think Argyle need him as their Mascot..
And they want us persons to preserve their habitat when they can't even look after it themselves. Just cut all the bleddy trees down, that'll serve em right.
On the contrary those that support the the team will wish them all the best for Saturday......a big game to win....beat Oxford and we leap frog them into at least 8th place. Not keen on some of the happenings at PAFC at present....but not all things are bad Punch.....and I would never wish anything but success on the team whoever is running the club.....if the Grandstand comes down in the summer my main concern is how well will the team play on a building site....exposed to the elements down one side.....and the losing of atmosphere by the ground not being enclosed.
I doubt we'll be promoted but just be pleased not going up is what we're worrying about, not being relegated. That's a first for how many seasons? Beat Oxford on Saturday and the following week end, we'll be at Bury while York & Oxford play each other. After that, we have two home games against Wimbledon (17th) and Hartlepool (15th). May not go our way but it's not impossible.....
No idea which team will turn up for the rest of the season- hopefully they will play with less anxiety and more enjoyment and if so, the fixture list suggests we have every chance of still making it - even a point on Saturday might still keep hopes alive. Interesting that the prediction league on 'the other site' suggests that 67 points might be enough for a play off place (no idea what that is based on) more importantly we are only 1 point from guaranteed safety- still think the last match of the season might still be important for us.
I have every faith and with our fixtures .. i think we will be there in the play offs.. a 5th place finish as my 3rd spot is a no go now ... F u ck the stand for the time.. i think we just have to wait and seee if or when this goes on.. The club is in a better place now than the last 2 seasons, we were all ****ting our selves this time last year as we may go down... i suppose some will be unhappy that we wont go up and have a dig at someone.. Can't please us all...
Result.....0-2......goal shy Argyle......they certainly know how to disappoint.......seemed to have no bottle. Oxford have been falling like a stone.....until they come to Home Park.
They, that is Oxford, were absolutely 100% worth their win and were better than we were everywhere on the park. I've kept telling you there is no chance of a playoff place so perhaps "now you've gotta believe me, now you've gotta believe me" We ain't going to Wembley anytime soon.
