Over the last few days, I get the impression that people have been exchanging views on a potential takeover of Leeds United. The Official Club Website states "...the club can confirm that talks are taking place regarding investment for the long-term future." There have been reports that potential investors may have a connection to Chicago. Amongst the likely candidates, members of the Pritzker family have been mentioned. The Pritzkers are large (controlling) shareholders of Hyatt Hotels. Has anyone given any thought that perhaps they are considering an investment in the hotel that Ken Bates has been talking about at Elland Road? Just like playing Monopoly, perhaps their plan is to participate in a plan to put an hotel on Elland Road? Your thoughts?
Because that would be a terrible outcome and spoil the anticipation we have all built up or you just don't like Monopoly?
I just prefer cluedo In all seriousness a successful hotel business would not get involved in the shambles that is the beeston motel
At one time or another, the hotels' business plan usually involved long term (25-30) year leases which the hotel chain leased from the building owner in order to operate the hotel. In other words, the building owner did not operate the hotel business and the hotel was not in the property owning business. That is a long term invetment, is it not?
Do you think that if each Championship side were a monopoly location, that Millwall would be the 'water works'
I think it's more likely this Chicago based guy (who made his money in casinos) is the "Investor" who is gonna put money in to the casino
A definite possibility YWBK! I think these are more likely scenarios than the takeover ones, Bates & Mates just love the distraction from the other issues that this speculation brings. I so sincerely hope I am wrong on this!
No. The discussions involve potential purchaser's as found by lust, not as found by bates or Harvey. Those people would not be interested in TA but more interested in footfall around Beeston, business plans and strategies to guarantee that hotel could be successful and set up independent of the club. They would be interested in the ownership aspects of theground. Etc etc
Do you have any support/link for the "potential purchaser's as found by lust" part? I agree with you that a hotel/casino investor may not have an interest in TA from a business standpoint, but perhaps the club was trying to play nice host and attempt to impress. The ownership issue may not be as relevant as their being assured that they could enter into a long-term lease with whomever the ownership is with the appropriate safeguards and security built into their agreement.
