There's (naturally) been a lot of discussion over Hughton's future recently, so to try and stir up some debate on a Tuesday afternoon...who would you want as our manager? At the moment, I can't think of anyone I'd trust to come in (let's say in the summer) and keep us up next year, whilst playing a significantly better style of football. Your thoughts? Edit: I'm not necessarily after another should he go or not debate, but if he was, who would you like to replace him.
I'm not ready to give up on Hughton yet, however if were were looking for a new manager id fancy Gus Poyet.
Quite simply there are few or none but Mackay would be the obvious one. Why he would want to leave Cardiff is a strange one unless he sees us as being more liekly to stay up next season or because he still has love for us as a club.
I know you said you don't want a debate about should he go and you are only playing Dev's ad but I find it absurd that this question has even come up!
I am fed up with the amount of managers we have had at Norwich in my living memory so even though I am critical of him at the moment, I don't want another change in personnel, I want a change in style and tactics. If he can do it then so much the better.
Agree with all of that, Redruth, but we need some player changes first. At least RvW is a start. As for Malky MacKay, I liked him as a player but let's see what he does with Cardiff in the PL before we try that. As for Martinez, why would we want year after year of fighting relegation?
Poyet rejected Premier League clubs last summer so wouldn't come to us. Malky said he wasn't interested in joining us specifically last summer so wouldn't come. Di Matteo's got the Champions League on his CV and is clearly holding out for a bigger job. And Martinez rejected Liverpool but is more than happy to come to Norwich? Don't be silly. He'll stay at Wigan most likely, even if they go down, and take them up as Champions. In Hughton We Trust.
I am still happy to keep Hughton as well by the way. I think he will turn things around next season - playing style and points tally. Providing he can bring in the players that he wants.
Personally I can't think of anyone who would do a worse job, I've never wanted a season to end so much. Mc ally isn't daft and it wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't already sounded out a couple of possible replacements.
I know he hasn't done it yet, and it's possible he won't, but how could you say that someone who keeps a club of our size up, in just their second season of Premier League football, is doing a worse job than anyone else could do?
KIO raises a very valid point. although CHs remit was purely to stay up, mcnally won't have missed the poor football served up, and i would assume by now quite a large contingent of the faithful starting to makes noises. Take Atkins at Saints as an example as well. it could happen
