Afternoon all, I thought i was create a debate with our fans with this, there's been a lot of players we haven't signed under Fergie but there's 2 i feel i was a bit unhappy about at the time they are :

Joe Cole - When he left Chelsea in 2010, i wanted us to sign him because he could create from nothing and we sold Ronaldo to real Madrid, but i was disappointed that he joined Liverpool, but i was wrong, he was one of their worst signings, and he's now back at West Ham.

Paul Gascoigne - he was on his day world-class, i remember we were very interested in him, we agreed a deal to sign him and he told Fergie to go on his holiday, giving his word that he would join us but when Martin Edwards phoned |Fergie and told him he was joining Tottenham, i was gutted, Fergie would've looked after him, he's got people all over Manchester, he knows where are players are at night, shame though.

Gareth Bale, simply put he's fantastic down the left and better than any left sided player we've had since he signed for Tottenham.

Other than Bale I'd have liked to have seen Gascoigne play for United in his prime.

Two other players I would have liked us to sign a couple of years ago but I don't think we need any longer were Ozil and Sneijder. But from the list you've put up Bale is the standout one for me that we missed out on because he would have the biggest impact on the first team imo.

You missed Michael Essien off the list. We had him lined up until Chelsea dangled that big financial carrot to re-focus his 'dream'.

He's the stand out one for me, the type of player we've needed since Roy Keane faded away.

Not bothered we never got Shearer, it's possible we'd have won even more but not guaranteed and we did get Ole and we did get Dwight Yorke and I wouldn't swap either for him.

If we'd got Ronaldinho would we have gone for Ronaldo? Doubt it.

Ronaldo was bought with the money that we were planning to spend on Ronaldinho. So in some ways it was a blessing in disguise that he rejected us and joined Barcelona.

Shearer would be the one for me. When you look at the goals he scored for Newcastle it makes you wonder how many goals he could have scored had he played for us. Fair play to him though for choosing his home club over success:biggrin:

Bale and Essien for me. Gazza would have been amazing to see he might have had a better life if he'd signed for us.

Was going to say the same re ronaldinho as not getting him meant we got ronnie.

I happily own up to being a bit gutted we didn't get sneijder also.

Not sure we were ever officially linked to him, but Freddy Adu. I honestly think if he went a club known for developing and nurturing youth he'd be up there with Messi and Ronaldo now. Sadly he chose to play in the MLS a league at the time that had absolutely no youth development programs whatsoever.

I know pretty much every major team in Europe were interested and a few made substantial offers were made but he turned them down to stay in the United States.

For me its Paul Gascoigne, he would have turned out to be a world beater under SAF and not a drunk

sneijder, he would of been a great replacement for Scholes, he's the Scholes type of player we need for Scholes's replacement when he does retire.

He played for Benefica for awhile but spent a lot of time on loan. His last loan stint was in turkey and he's now back playing in the MLS. He just doesn't have the right attitude to succeed because he a achieved so much so young. Someone like Fergie would have taken that our of him and gave him a desire to become and even better player.
