Was reading one of the old programmes from around 2001 and it said Leeds once had the chance to sign Sami Hyypia after a trial but we didn't deem him good enough so sent him packing. Oh dear. Aside from the obvious in Eric ****ona, which other players have slipped through United's hands only to achieve distinction elsewhere?

I don't think so, he'd already realized his potential when with us really. I'm talking more about unproven players who we could have snapped up and would have become stars for us. We had the Denis Irwin (leftback of Man U fame) for a while as well, another sickening one that went to the scum and would have been a Leeds great.

Could be wrong but we almost snapped up Ruud Van Nistleroy i believe, and John Arne Riise..

These could have just been rumours mind.

Andy Keogh too I suppose if we're thinking about the Milner/Lennon generation. We had Adam Johnson on loan a few years ago, not that he slipped through our hands as such.

We were heavily linked with Frank Lampard but apparently O'Leary thought he was too expensive. :(

Kind of surprised CliveTime hasn't mentioned Schmeichel and then proceeded to spread his doom and gloom mongering around this thread. He's like that bloke who predicted the rapture.

Why would I? All he ever does is bitch and moan about Grayson. He was banned from JA606 for it and now we have to put up with it.

as i say it was just a sense, i suppose theres no real reason to hate a guy that just annoys everyone with his moaning and negativity about our manager that got us promoted and almost into the playoffs the first season back in the championship

If you're counting him almost getting us into the play-offs, then you should count him almost not getting us promoted, especially as we missed out on the play-offs by a bigger margin.

People used to take the p*ss out of me for being a positive fan. I'm far from a moaner, I'm just past the point of no return with Grayson. He's not done anything to bring me back and no one has said anything to convince me that I'm wrong.

clive, the point was in your first season back into a higher league, you dont expect to nearly get promotion, surely you can see that, stuff grayson does annoys me, however to ask for his head is ridiculous, he has done a good job with a small budget and for you not to recognise that means you are stupid no other way to put it

I bet SG's gutted. He probably has sleepless nights thinking of ways to get Clivetime to love him!
