Was thinking about players we might be signing for the upcoming Championship season and saw Grant Holt's name mentioned somewhere. He's obviously a player many here dislike....maybe because of who he plays for, or his ability to fall over on a sixpence. But at that level he has proved his worth. Anyway I was thinking was there a player we've ever signed that you thought at the time...OH FECK OFF....who you just didn't like but who changed your opinion with his performances when he pulled the hooped shirt on? For me I remember we signed Mark Dennis from Southampton...he was a bit of an animal and I didn't like the guy. But even though he only made 28 appearances I totally changed my opinion of him.....even though he remained an animal.
Henry! And we managed to sell him to Arsenal.... I disliked the idea of both McLintock and Webb, mainly because of their age and where they came from. They were of course inspired signings. No sign of the last pay cheque syndrome in those days.
