Over on my blog I am Continuing with the list of players we should sign this summer I want to feature another full back Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock. I wanted to share it with you lads

Warnock learned his trade at Liverpool before moving onto to Blackburn in search of regular first team football. After a successful spell at Ewood park he was signed by Martin O'neill at Aston Villa and became part of a young, promising, and exciting team.

Warnock has since fallen out with Gerrad Houllier at Villa and have been frozen out, now training with the young team. He is a talented full back with has England caps. He could be either a replacement for Jose Enrique or cover, either way he would be a great signing for the Toon.

If we have to replace Enrique then I'd want Van Aarnholt.

He's 29, doesn't fit the age group we're going for.

If we have to replace Jose Enrique then I'd want Jose Angel from Sporting Gijon (age 21) and has the potential to be better than Jose Enrique

You've suggested Enrique and Baines. <confused>

Is this the Sunderland model where you fill your team with right (or in our case left) backs and hope for the best?

If we have to sell Jose I'd want Arnold as a replacement, because he has the potential to be as good as Jose (or near enough), not Warnock who has maybe 3 years left and isnt as good as Enrique (and of course wont ever be).

  10. I agree about Van Aarnholt, he can cover both LB and RB.

I hope we can keep Enrique but it looks unlikely as he is world class

I would sell him for 12-15 million

Patrick van Aanholt is the only player I'd want to replace Jose Enrique. I fear he's rated highly by Chelsea and will not be sold. Think we'd all agree that we took a shine to his willingness to play for us, determination to play well and show what he could do!

I think a bid of £12m for Enrique would probably be accepted in the summer, unfortunately.

Apart from Tiote, who I think would go for 20 million in todays market, I reckon Enrique is our highest valued player, I would agree with the 10-15 million bracket, who do you think our next highest valued player would be? and what price, Coloccini?
