This lark with PVA and even though he.s totally gash. He gets a game as we have no other lb.

So in a whole squad no onw else is capable of adopting this position?

**** me sideways. Even the ginger pirlo was half capable of adopting this position.

Larsson can pkay ctr mid. Right wing and right back.

O.Shea has played several positions during his carrer

So why can no one in the squad adopt the lb positon?

Im sure in the past other players have changed positions and excelled and made them their own.

Am i correct in thinking Watson?

You are correct in thinking Watson. Billy Elliot, who stood in after Alan Brown was sackedl moved him back from centre forward to centre half on November 11th., 1972 against Carlisle (we shiipped 4 goals and lost 4-3). He played three games there before Bob Stokoe took over on 1st. December. Bob kept Dave there, and the rest is history.

In more recent times, Richardson, Colback, Gardner, and Vergini have all played out of position to cover full-back for us.

We`ve certainly had plenty of makeshifts. Struggling to think of anybody since Mickey Gray who`s been a career LB.

I thought Jones could play both sides or was it Matthews? In any case I think Jones should go LB and Yedlin on the right. Either that or ban PVA from crossing the half way line.

And all four of them have gone.

Surely someone must be able to contest this position. Or other positions.

Why can defenders rarely make it as forwards and vice versa.

Lets take Borini (just a random name ive picked) why could he not make the transition to say lb or rb?

I know naturally he is an attacking type person. So what stops them from adapting (any idea cos i havnt a clue)

Imagine if he could. Then we could bring in maybr watmore to play in front of him. (These are just examples and my strange way of looking at it).

Possibly. Larsson played internationals at RB although iirc last time out they took a bit of a battering.

Yedlin at LB is another option but imo he did well enough at RB to stay there.

Dunno mate. This whole defence thing`s getting silly now.

Danny Boy converted to a centre half, Billy :emoticon-0105-wink: although he obviously should have played for Brazil . . . . upfront, of course :emoticon-0100-smile

Dick said recently that Jones has been one of our best players this last couple of games, so I can't see him being dropped. Larsson RB and Jones LB might be a decent option. Either that or drop Borini back a bit to help PVA out. That would allow us Lens Defoe and Johnson/Yedlin up front.

We are worryingly short of cover at the back, and a change of formation may be neccessary as we have so little choice, move the fullbacks forward and go three at the back could work imo.

Which way? He's not the only one to blame for the issues down that side though - I watched him in the cup against City and he was 2 or 3 against him a number of times - Chelsea were the same last night in the CL - Pedro is not interested in helping the defence so Ivanovic is isolated - now Ivanovic is a far better footballer than PVA but he struggled when he had multiple oppo running at him on his own!

    What's the answer? FIIK!

PVA is being targeted by opposing teams.

They know a weak link. Him and his lack of support.

We would do the same if an opposing team had a player we could exploit.

Just a thought, WBA were winning against Everton then took McClean off and they shipped the last goal from an attack down his unprotected wing. NUFC take Colback off and ship two goals after his departure.
