Aye I don't know if underrated is the right word but I probably take Patterson for granted too much. When someone's running through on goal I think "it's alright, Patterson's got this" and when he does make the save it's more "thought so" than "wow what a stop!".

He sets a high bar. It's great to be relaxed about the keeper after so many nervy years. He makes the odd flub but show me a keeper who doesn't.

Aye, I agree with that take him for granted more than underrated.

Has it even been 2 full seasons since he was recalled? He deserves absolutely massive credit for grabbing the chance he had due to injury and illness. Without a doubt the club were planning to bring him back get through covid and send him back out to Notts County (all statements at the time from both clubs said that was the plan) but he made that impossible.

He is now a keeper who you don't worry about for a second, all in such a short space of time!

Class for the lad!

He is better seeing the full pitch when he receives passes, in CM you have to be aware of whats behind you more than you do at CB thats where he struggles.

When say about runners getting in behind you in CM is because you are normally watching the ball n wanting to.step up n press the ball. At CB if a player is making a run in behind you, youll naturally drop deeper to cover that run rather than step out to press the ball. O9 is better when he has to drop with the runner than having to decide between pressing, holding position, or dropping to cover space like CMs have to do.

Its not a knock on the lad at all, i think hes a very good CB n is getting better all the time in that role. Just don't think hes suited to a cdm role in a possession based team like we are now

Not sure where ive contradicted myself

Very well said, I have to disagree, I think he would be great as a CDM, all about opinions

Cirkin, I think this lad is great, good defender and helps out up the park also.
Reminds me of how Dennis Irwin was hardly mentioned , even though he obviously played well enough to make hundreds of appearances in a successful Man Utd team , and winning a boat load of medals . Hope Cirkin wins half the medals ( whilst still with us of course!)

Imagine if we can get promoted, and our quality of football keeps on getting better in the PL. Moving up the league year on year and getting to a level where playing Man City and the likes is tough but definitely winnable. Make ourselves realistic contenders in the cups. There’s a buzz now but imagine it around the club and the city when we really start to hit the heights.

I digress! Cirkin is quality. One of the foundations of the side.
