Breaking News: Cauley Woodrow scores the WINNER for Burton Albion

And this match, where Burton beat Wolves 2-1 at home, allows me to cover three of our players out on loan in a oner. LVC came off for Burton after 88 minute with the score at 1-1 and then Cauley Woodrow, who made his first start for them, got that winning goal in the 94th minute. Richard Stearman played the whole game for Wolves and got his obligatory yellow card.

And the others from our Loan FC13 -

In League One, Stevie Humphrys made an appearance for Shrewsbury Town at the weekend in their 2-1 win over Bury. Humphrys came on in the 68th minute when the Blues were winning by a goal to nil and helped them secure the three points. Also on the pitch but playing for Bury was Cameron Burgess. Burgess managed the whole 90 for the Shakers, but wasn’t able to help secure a point from the match.

That win takes Shrewsbury to 18th place and four points above the drop and leaves Bury in the relegation zone, two behind 20th placed Swindon Town.

In League Two, Sean Kavanagh played the whole match for Hartlepool United as they hosted Yeovil Town. New manager Dave Jones won his first point in a 1-1 draw in his first home game with the club. That point keeps Hartlepool in 18th place and six points above Leyton Orient who top the relegation zone.

Also in League Two, Accrington Stanley recorded their first home win in the league since mid October with Marek Rodák between the sticks for the Reds. He made six saves in a 2-0 win to secure a clean sheet over relegation rivals Notts County. This victory gave Accrington a vital three points and launches them up to 19th in the league, four points above the drop zone and three above Notts
    .

In the Vanarama National League, goalkeeper Magnus Norman played 90 minutes for Southport’s visit to Gateshead. Southport lost 3-0 against a strong Gateshead team who keep their place in eighth position. Southport are just above the relegation zone in 20th position.

Ryheem Sheckleford played a full 90 minutes for Wealdstone as they were knocked out of the third round in the Buildbase F.A. Trophy. The Raiders suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Brackley Town, and can now turn resume their season in the league.

Elijah Adebayo played a full game for Bognor Regis Town FC in their 1-0 away win at Harrow Borough. The goal came from a rebound of Adebayo’s blocked shot, meaning the Rocks stay four points clear at the top with a game in hand.

A boost for the Academy as Elijah Adebayo returns home from his short term loan to Wealdstone, as does Ryheem Sheckleford from his at Wealdstone.

One comes home and one goes out. Nothing from the Club but Wealstone have said that Josh Walker has joined them on loan.

Good strategy from the Club, giving young Academy lads short, sharp experience like this. As they did for Adebayo and Sheckleford. Are we seeing Steve Wigley's influence in his new over-seeing role?

Stevie Humphrys makes his debut start, scores from the penalty spot AND gets sent off !

His second yellow seems a tad harsh. What do you reckon?

And the rest of LoanFC Xl:

"On Valentines day Richard Stearman played for Wolves in their 1-0 defeat at home to relegation fighters Wigan Athletic. Ryan Tunnicliffe was on the bench for the Lactics but did not make an appearance. Stearman played the full 90 at Molineux where it looked to finish goalless until the 88th minute, when Jake Buxton headed in the late winner to give Wigan all three points. That leaves Wigan two points off safety, with Wolves are six points ahead in 18th.

In League Two Sean Kavanagh played the full 90 minutes in Hartlepool United’s 3-0 defeat away at Luton Town. Hartlepool are now four places above the relegation zone but only two separate the teams. Luton are chasing automatic promotion and are three points behind.

Elsewhere in League Two Marek Rodák was between the sticks for Accrington Stanley in their away fixture to Mansfield. Eight goals went in during the explosive 90 minutes and the teams walked away sharing the spoils after a 4-4 draw. The reds almost had all three points in the bag when Mansfield’s substitute Arquin scored a winner in the 89th minute. Mansfield in the play off places were clear favorites against the League Two strugglers Accrington Stanley.

On Saturday Lasse Vigen Christensen lined up for Burton Albion against Championship title chasers Brighton & Hove Albion. Christensen played 82 minutes in a game that saw the Seagulls win 4-1 at the Amex. That win put Brighton 1 point behind Newcastle but leaves the Brewers floating above the drop zone.

In the Scottish Premier League Larnell Cole featured Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s 6-0 defeat to league runaway leaders Celtic. He came on as a second half substitute in the 62nd minute and wasn’t able to help Inverness in the heavy defeat to Celtic. That win keeps Celtic 27 points ahead of closest rivals Aberdeen and Rangers, and Inverness rooted to the bottom, five points off Partick Thistle and safety."

Cauley Woodrow got the first from an assist by Lasse Vigen Christensen as Burton do us a great favour beating Norwich 2-1.

PS Matt Smith got his first for QPR as they win 4-1 at Birningham. Hope we don't live to rue Zola's only win in 11.

PPS Ross McCormack missed a penalty with the score at 0-0. Sheffield Wednesday then went straight up the pitch to score and ran out 2-1 winners away to Nottingham Forest. Whaaaa !

And the other lads had a pretty good weekend as well:

Ryan Tunnicliffe played the full 90 minutes in Wigan’s home match against Preston North End. The game finished 0-0 and the match hero was Lactics’ goalkeeper Matt Gilks who saved a penalty to keep the game scoreless. That point earned leaves Wigan two points from safety in the Championship.

In a League One relegation clash Cameron Burgess played 90 minutes for Bury in their valuable 2-1 away win over Chesterfield. Tom Anderson was sent off in the 78th minute and gave a penalty away for Chesterfield when they were a goal to the good. The dramatic end to the match saw the penalty saved before Andrew Tutte scored in the 80th minute, and George Miller stole the winner deep into stoppage time. Bury are now out of the drop zone, only on goal difference, whilst Chesterfield are now seven points from safety.

In League Two Sean Kavanagh played the full 90 minutes in Hartlepool United’s home draw to Plymouth Argyle. Hartlepool were undone by a stunning strike by Matty Kennedy in the 76th minute to rescue a point for the Pilgrims. It was a good point for Hartlepool who are now three points off the relegation places, and Plymouth push for promotion, three points off the summit with a game in hand.

Elsewhere in League Two, Marek Rodák starred between the sticks for Accrington Stanley in their 2-1 win over Colchester United. Stanley defender Omar Beckles was sent off in the 45th minute after goals from Billy Kee and Matty Pearson, meaning they had to hold onto their lead for an entire half to see out the game. Rodak made 6 saves in the game, only conceding a penalty. That win leaves Accrington in 19th place, four points above the relegation zone, and Colchester in 11th.

In Spain Jozabed featured in Celta Vigo’s 3-0 win over Osasuna. He replaced Sanchez Ruiz an hour into the match when the game was at 1-0, and made his mark by doubling Celta’s lead with a header from a corner. Ex-Liverpool winger Iago Aspas scored the third two minutes later to seal all three points. That win leaves Celta Vigo in ninth place with a game in hand, and could move up to seventh. Osasuna stay rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points from safety.

In the Scottish Premier League Larnell Cole played the whole game for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their away match to Hearts. It was a well earned point for Inverness who took the lead in the 24th minute through Carl Tremarco, before Hearts equalised in the 64th minute through Sutchuin-Djoum. Inverness are bottom of the league, four points from safety whilst Hearts are in fourth place chasing Rangers.

Also last night Larnel Cole was involved in both Caley Thistle's goals as they beat the mighty Rangers 2-1. The win takes the Inverness team off the bottom of the SPL and above Hamilton Accies.

And how the others got on:

Richard Stearman returned to the Wolves starting line-up against Birmingham after missing their F.A. Cup clash with Chelsea the previous weekend. Maikel Kieftenbeld opened the scoring for Birmingham in the 27thminute before Che Adams’ cross took an unfortunate deflection off Stearman and was met by David Davis who finished off from just inside the area. The Blues were reduced to 10-men when Paul Robinson was shown a straight red for a swinging arm early in the second half. Nouha Dicko’s 54th minute goal wasn’t enough to prevent Gianfranco Zola securing his first away win as Birmingham manager.

Elsewhere in the Championship Ryan Tunnicliffe played a full 90-minutes for Wigan in a goalless draw against Nottingham Forrest, a result which sees the Latics just two points off escaping the relegation zone.

Defender Cameron Burgess helped Bury keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory at Charlton, the win saw the Greater Manchester club go three points clear of the relegation zone in League One.

Stevie Humphrys came off the bench and grabbed a 90th minute goal in Shrewsbury’s 2-1 defeat to MK Dons.

Marek Rodák played his role between the sticks for Accrington Stanley in their impressive 2-2 draw at League Two leaders Doncaster.

Our other goalkeeper on loan Magnus Norman played the whole match for Stockport in a 1-0 defeat to mid-table Chester in the Vanarama National League.

In La Liga Jozabed started and played an hour of Celta Vigo’s 1-1 draw away at Sporting Gijon.

Good results for the lads playing tonight.

Jack Grimmer was back for Shrewsbury and played the full match in their 4-3 win over Charlton [Jack recently returned home briefly playing for our U23s to get game time following a period out injured]. Siding up with him Stevies Humphrys didn't score but got a standing ovation from the Shrew's fans when subbed on 85 minutes.

Cameron Burgess put in another strong performance in Bury's 2-1 win over Coventry. A victory that sees new boss and ex-Fulham midfielder Lee Clark's side continue their climb away from the relegation spots in League 1.

Marek Rodak's Accrington Stanley also kept their fight up the table going as they added to their tally of 11 draws in a 2-2 match against Wycombe Wanderers.

[Old boy Liam Donnelly held the Hartlepool defence line in their 4-0 win at home to Crewe but his partner Sean Kavanagh was reduced to watching from the stand. Sean also missed their game last Saturday through injury but he's expected back at the weekend.]

    Indeed and quite excited reviews as per this local report;

    http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/burton-...says-woodrow/story-30197696-detail/story.html

So much so that Burton are said to be lining up a Club transfer record signing of £750k to take him there permanently in the summer. Deal or No Deal .. What do you reckon ?

If he's scoring goals in the Championship, why not see if he can do the same for us? If we are successful in the fresh bagels, maybe let him go but if we're still at this level next season, I say keep him.

Ryan Tunnicliffe of course wasn't available for Wigan against us the other night.

    upload_2017-3-16_20-14-2.jpeg

To be honest I'm not sure how much Mowbray fancies him. And more to the point it appears that we don't at all. The local paper is saying that we'll release him in the summer when his contract is up. Hot on his trail they also report are Glasgow Rangers, who he's been linked with before.

Would be surprised if Rangers were interested in him to be honest, may have been the case when Warburton was here as he was signing loads of under performing players from England. I'd doubt the new manager even knows who Ryan Tunnicliffe is.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Forest, with the Warburton/McParland connection.

Missed a general round up over the last week or so, with all the individual excitement. However here's how the lads out on loan got on last weekend:

"Cauley Woodrow scored for Burton Albion again this weekend in their 5-3 loss to Brentford, bringing an end to the Brewers’ six match unbeaten run. Brentford scored early but Burton hit back with Marvin Sordell converting twice from corners swung in by fellow Fulham loanee Lasse Vigen Christensen. Both played the full 90 minutes for the Brewers. Woodrow hit the crossbar from close range before converting another free kick, to give Burton a commanding position in the game winning 3-1. The bees mounted an epic comeback with three goals in the second half. That loss leaves Burton one point above the drop zone going into the international break.

In League One Stephen Humphrys made a substitute appearance for Shrewsbury Town in their 2-1 loss away at Port Vale in the relegation scrap. Humphrys came onto the pitch in the 72ndminute with the Shrews facing a two goal deficit, and within two minutes they halved the goal difference through a long range effort from Louis Dodds. Those three points means Port Vale are top of the relegation zone in 21st with 41 points, and Shrewsbury sit in 19th on 43 points.

Also in League One Cameron Burgess played a full 90 minutes for Bury in their 0-0 draw at the Den against Millwall. Bury holding Millwall means they drop out of the play off places and Bury go up to 17th place on 45 points, four above the drop zone.

In League Two Marek Rodák was between the sticks for Accrington Stanley. They managed to take a point away from their away trip to Yeovile town after Scott Brown was sent off with a straight red in the 22nd minute. Rodák made four saves to ensure the game finished level. That draw leaves both teams on 45 points, with Accrington ahead on goal difference in 16th place.

On the continent Jozabed made a short appearance for Celta Vigo in their 1-0 away victory against Deportivo La Coruña, coming on in the 87th minute for Daniel Wass. The deadlock was broken by Iago Aspas in the 74th minute, leaving Celta in 11th position in La Liga.
    "

PS Jozabed and his team also qualified for the Europa quarter finals last midweek.

    And at the weekend -

Both Cauley Woodrow and Lasse Vigen Christensen featured in Burton Albion’s surprise victory at automatic promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town. Christensen played for 76 minutes and made way for Lucas Akins, and Woodrow played the whole match. The game looked to end goalless before substitute Jackson Irvine converted a cross from Marvin Sordell in the 96th minute of the match. Those three points could end up being crucial for the Bewers as they move up to 19th place with four points separating them from the drop zone. With Brighton winning against Blackburn, nine points now separate Huddersfield from the automatic places with a game in hand.

In Leauge One Stephen Humphrys made a second half appearance for Shrewsbury Town in their away outing at Bristol Rovers. Humphrys come on for the start of the second half for Tyler Roberts as a lone striker. He was unable to find the net and the Shrews lost the game 2-0. That loss leaves Shrewsbury in the relegation zone in 21st, however they have a game in hand and only three points separate them and 17th. Rovers are still in the play-off hunt in eighth, six points behind Southend United.

In League Two Marek Rodák was in goal for Accrington Stanley away at second placed Plymouth Argyle. Rodák not only kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win, but helped Stanley to continue on a 12 game unbeaten run. Rodák made six saves in the match to keep Plymouth at bay, earning a huge three points after Jordan Clark scored early on in the eighth minute. Accrington have rocketed up to 13th in the league with 55 points, as Argyle stay in second with 75 points.

Up in the Scottish Premier League, Larnell Cole played the majority of Inverness & Caledonian Thistle’s home tie against Kilmarnock. Cole came off in the 86th minute for Liam Polworth. Kilmarnock’s captain Kris Boyd scored in the 19th minute to give them the lead, and it took only 5 minutes for Inverness to reply through Billy McKay. That draw leaves Inverness propping up the table in the automatic relegation spot, however, only three points separate themselves and the three teams above in ninth. Kilmarnock remain in seventh.
