On various boards debates rage about players leaving to get CL football, but, is that where we are now ? Is it a case that fear is driving clubs, fear of losing their best players if they fail to qualify for the Champion's League ?? How can a team plan or build if in the back of their mind the overriding fear is losing their best players if they don't qualify for the CL ? Is there any love between a player and a club these days ? Players seem to want to jump ship the first chance they get, there is no "I" in "team" for them. There is the fear at Arsenal, Spurs and possibly Liverpool. I am of the opinion that, if a player is willing to leave a club just because they miss a season or 2 of CL football, they should piss off out of the club, I don't want them around
My friend, something disturbing you today? With a little luck I'm sure we'll retain our key players and continue to maintain a place in the CL. If we buy well and seal the deal(s) we're expected to this summer then the future looks good for us. The only players leaving will be the ones we would like to shift
I agree with the sentiment here. I hope one day players wake up and realise that sticking with a team for the long haul is better for your career and your standing as a professional. It's only a hope though sadly.
