Now that we have an owner who appears willing to splash the cash to take Leeds back to the Premiership, I would like to suggest the following players to be brought to Leeds as soon as possible. a) Phil Bardsley (Sunderland) - out of contract but would need a good wage. b) Scott Brown (Celtic) - Massive bid required, make him club captain. Chances very very unlikely. c) Scott Carson (Wigan) - Again cost a bit of dosh, but bring him back to his former club. d) Ryan Gauld (Dundee United) - GET HIM, PAY WHATEVER IS REQUIRED, HE IS CLASS AND ONLY 18 e) Alex Harris (Hibs) - Cracking player, again only 19 and a class act. I'm sure there will be others.
Boab, Bardsley hasn't exactly made a good example of himself off the field, and not sure he's good enough
No chance of any of them coming, next season will be about sorting out finances no big money or big wage signings.Expect a few quality Italians who don't expect to get massive money for being crap.
Your ambitious and that's why I like you, are you available to become head scout for LUFC??.. Jack Colback is decent and also out of contract at Sundie...would he drop down? I think so, a good lad and grafts it out and can pick a pass too. Becchio back from Norwich possibly. Gary Hooper from Norwich also, a step down to Champ level would see him flourish if not with Norwich he could be bought, prob expensive to buy out though.
Wake up everyone, we need to spend cash big time, or else we don't go anywhere. No more old timers or players not good enough for Championship clubs, we need talent and we need to pay for it. I suspect Cellino know this and thus will act. Snoddy is off to Celtic if Norwich are relegated, with Norwich claiming an extra £2m on top of what they paid for him from Leeds. Snoddy want's this move and is willing to drop a **** load of wages just to be a Celtic player. As for Becchio, no thanks, his time has been.
He's good enough, and off the field, that had more to do with the greasy Ital in charge than it did Bardsley.
GUEDETTI for me Bardsley no thank you Pirlo yes please Gauld I like Mckay Stephens and get rid of the dross looking at the team yesterday the majority they would not be here next season we need a team to bond play for each other didn't see any of that sorry BM but you are the weakest link GO
We may have the money available now, but nearly all of those players will be attracting interest from Premiership/top foreign league clubs. We can't compete with that, based purely on the division we're currently in.
Don't look like you know how Cellino works, his team in Italy don't run in the red.Cut squad size, buy ground to avoid rent, run club in the black and uses profits to buy young players who will increase in value. He takes no crap, players give 100% or off they go.
Wake up Boab. The Scottish leagues are so poor that Luke Varney would look like Messi if he was playing up there. It would be a hell of a risk signing players from the Mickey Mouse clubs playing in escotia!
They'd have to get past bigger clubs like Stenhousemuir, Cowdenbeath and Montrose first, so no chance of Europe for the wallies
Agree glory hunter why would anyone in there sane mind would want to inflict scotish players on us ???????? we got enough problems !
Already posted these somewhere, but realistic targets I think we should be looking at, all reasonably young with potential to improve further and would improve our current first team: Marc Albrighton - Free(out of contract in summer) - Needs to drop a division to reignite his career, very good winger and would be one of the best at this level Ricardo Vaz Te - Free(out of contract in summer) - West ham do actually have option for another year but if they don't take it we MUST look at him, great player especially at this level. Patrick Bamford - Season Loan - Great player and has a massive amount of ability for his age, easily going to be playing in the prem in years to come, could be a great stop gap for us to help us into the premier league until we have enough money to buy our own players. Adam Federici - Fee - Would be a fee but I doubt it'd be much as he isn't playing at Reading (mainly coz they have future england goalkeeper in their first team). Full international goalkeeper who is still reasonable age, hopefully BM's links (if he's still here which is unlikely) can help us get him, great keeper at this level and perhaps above. Harry McGuire - Might require a decent fee - Young and clear prem potential, might cost a bit but is gonna be a prem CB, better than anything we have (maybe pearce as exception) although probably don't need another CB Other players out of contract of note: Kenwyne Jones, Ben Watson, Keiren Westwood, Dan Gosling, Chris Burke
Some very good names here, I absolutely agree with Josh, his list is sound, but not sure about his afters lot though, except maybe Ben Watson ... Bamford for me is a must, he will be awesome ... Gauld looks like a very good prospect, but I'm not sure he's ready for the Championship just yet, though would gladly have him in the squad ... a quality keeper is critical, and maybe Butland comes back next season, but after seeing the back of the net more times than Ross this season he may not want to ... I still think Cellino is going to bring in some Italian players, and possibly a couple of South Americans as he taps into his "extensive scouting network" at Cagliari ... at least one thing is certain, the out of contract players will all be going in June, Cellino won't keep any of them if he can use their wages elsewhere
Here are a few others whose contracts are coming up, who would make decent options: Anthony Pilkington - Has made a good account of himself in the premiership and would be good in the championship. Dan Gosling - Only 24 and a lot of experience, pretty sure he could do a job for us. Matthew Briggs - Another fairly young player who would be a great addition. Dedryck Boyata - Been on Man City's books a while still young. John Arne Riise - Not the youngest but his fitness always seems fine and still could offer alot for us. Billy Jones - I imagine he might stay in the Premiership but he has been a consistent performer for WBA. And any of these keepers would be very good for any championship team: Julián Speroni / Heurelho Gomes / Thomas Sörensen / Brad Friedel / Mark Schwarzer / Lukasz Fabianski.
