Player you wanted us to sign

So what player did you want us to sign but actually in hindsight wasn’t good enough for the PL or whatever league we were in at the time

I always wanted us to sign Derek Riordan of Hibs

I also wanted us to sign Jackie McNamara of Celtic (though I still think he would have done the business)

 

I wanted is to resign Adam Armstrong, but seems he's another Chopra as in brilliant in the champ average in the prem

 

Definitely! But at the same time I get the impression he’s more the foil to a main striker. Drops a bit deeper, finds space etc

 

I remember I really wanted us to sign Junior Hoillet in the days where were doing well under pardew. and after all these years really surprised he's still playing football and is actually and international

Think he would have been brilliant for us. If only he’d signed for us when he left Blackburn.

Daniel Sturridge. Watched him live a couple of times and thought he was brilliant.

I thought that too, he looked good when he was younger. Scored a neat goal against us at SJP (I was sitting right behind the goal at the time, so got a good view of his positioning, control, turn and finish).

But then injuries seemed to ruin him.

Yes I recall that goal. He was a very good striker in the early years but then just lost it.

We actually tried to sign him under Bobby... in a few years newcastle will be chasing players of that ilk and getting them.
