Krul - 8 - Did what he had to do, made a good save in the first half and was the boss of his area.

Simpson - 8- Solid enough for my liking, he actually got close to his man this time.

Coloccini - 10 - My MOM, Sensational performance from our captain. He really is a rock, hope we keep him!

Taylor - 9 - Won every header that came his way, solid clean sheet and a great partner for captain colo.

Raylor- 9 - What a goal for starters, you can tell he meant it. Sunderland targeted him, he was dodgy at times but was solid enough and got better as the game went on and kept a cool head throughout, really impressed.

Barton - 7 - Never really got into it to be fair, did what he had to do, crucial tackles and was denied a goal. Not his best performance but he was decent.

Cabaye - 8 - Solid, composed, great passing ability. Gave it away a few times but wasn't scared to tackle and got into it really well.

Tiote - 6 - I was annoyed with him at times. He kept turning into danger, passing the ball straight to them, wasn't by any means his best performance and he will know it. He did make some crucial challenges though.

Gutierrez - 7 - First half, was he even there? Second half, one of our best defenders, he takes the pressure off our defence when he runs with the ball, won the free kick and was a real threat in the second half.

Obertan - 5 - Never got into it, a few decent runs but never really had the bottle to just keep going. He is quick and got the ball away but didin't really offer much. I might be being harsh but he was worse than Tiote...

Ameobi - 5 - His first **** derby! He was poor, couldn't keep the ball, missed a sitter(even though I think he was offside) and never offered anything at all. He missed a strike partner to be fair.

    Thoughts?

Seems Shola just had his normal game instead of his inspired derby game.

Agree with you but, being pedantic, I'd give Jonas an 8 and Simpson a 7. Probably consider a 9 for Krul too, I usually worry a little with him but he was brilliant today and had a ton of confidence, never seemed like he would let one in.

in my opinion Obertan looked so much more dangerous upfront if im honest but yea fair ratings from what i seen in the first half and what ive heard ive really come to like Simpson even though everyone says he backs of way to much i dont think hes as bad as people make out and hes still young would love to see him turn into a quality right back

I'd say spot on. Tiote was much better in the second half.

Bit harsh on Jonas, I thought he was our best player behind Colo and Saylor.

Just think what the result could have been if Barton and Tiote had their normal game?

Agree with you mostly. Especially with Tiote. I think he had a bit of a shocker against Arsenal as well, his passing was completely off, and today instead of "cheiking" into space, he seemed to be getting us into some trouble. He'll improve though. He's too good not to. Also, I would give Raylor an 8, apart from his goal, he gave the ball away too many times, and sold himself completely once, which nearly led to a goal! Maybe give Jonas another mark as well, he gave us that spark we lacked that led to the goal.

I agree with Jonas, bump him up to an 8. With Raylor, I am blinded by his goal <laugh>

Think most people were blinded by Raylor's goal.

    One he'll never forget.
